We are driving to Nfld from Niagara Ontario in a rented sprinter van. We are touring Nova Scotia enroute 
We needed a break from the van 
We found the Top mast Motel 
It’s old, but comfy and clean 
We are travelling with our pets and we all
Had a relaxing night and the view was amazing.. 
we wished we had booked two nights when we came in

My wife and I stayed at the Topmast last week for night night and were pleasantly surprised. The room was very comfortable and newly renovated. Had everything you need and the view was great from the back deck. Only a short drive to downtown. The price was very reasonable. Would stay again.

This cute, affordable, retro motel was my favourite accommodation on our Canadian holiday. The nice young man at the desk was so welcoming and suggested a good restaurant for dinner. 
Our room had a balcony with a beautiful view over Lunenberg Harbour to the historic waterfront buildings. Utterly clean and cosy, our room looked like something out of the '60's, but well maintained. It even had a rocking chair! 
The bed was comfortable, the shower had plenty of hot water. In addition to the fridge and microwave, there was a drip coffee pot and ground coffee supplied. The biggest surprise were the real CHINA coffee cups, plus GLASS wine and water glasses. So nice to not use wasteful paper and plastic throw-aways. Top marks!

from the balcony of your room you'll see the iconic Lunenburg town in all of it's glory.
The rooms are spacious and have everything you need from your coffee in the morning to a frig to hold your cold drinks at night.
The owners were very responsive and eager to make my stay comfortable.
I can't think of a better place to stay that won't break the bank.  I'll be back again and again.

I am not a fussy traveler... I just want clean rooms, friendly people, and an outdoor space whenever possible. This motel is as quirky as its people are kind. I not only got a warm welcome and a bottle of wine, I got the best damn view of Lunenburg available outside of renting a golf cart and hitting nine holes. I stayed an extra night just because my dog and I were so at home. You can walk into town (it's a bit of a hike back with a belly full of scallops) or walk the other direction to a rugged beach and tranquility. The rooms are cozy and my bedside table is a mini fridge, but that should be a new design trend. Complainers will always complain but I found nothing to whine about other than I have to eventually... leave. But I'll be back.

I have stayed here two times now and both times had a great experience.  Clean, comfortable, great value, welcoming, and the main attraction...the amazing view.  To be able to sit on my own little deck and see that view, day or night(the lights on the water at night are beautiful) made the trip.  Had a great sleep. I will definitely be back!

What a great little secret up hill . Little kitchenette , your own little sun deck. Sitting area and with spacious bedroom too. Loved it wish we stayed longer. You can see the little town from our deck great view and next to hotel is a golf course.

The top mast offers the best view in Lunenburg. Very friendly and relaxing place to stay. Close to the golf course or a greta place to watch golf. Not far from all the fabulous eating places in Lunenburg.No street noise. You can sit out on the private deck and enjoy your glass of wine.

Located next to the local golf course, the Topmast Motel is a 20-min walk to the downtown area (1.8 km to the Bluenose ship) with grocery & liquor stores + gas halfway down on a side street. 

The room itself was typical motel style with a large bed, a fridge and microwave. The bathroom offered the usual toiletries and towels. Everything was reasonably clean, comfortable and in order. No problem with the t.v. or wifi. The little extra consisted in the balcony with a very nice view of historical Lunenberg. Too bad it rained part of the short time we were there. 

The Topmast provided us with a quiet place to stay at a reasonable price. It is not a fancy place but is adequate for most needs.


It is true. Best view of Lunenburg. 
Basic not fancy accommodation but every thing you need. Clean and the price is right. 
We saw the Blue Nose 2 come into harbour from our balcony. Even a golf course across the road from the motel. Book it and enjoy

In mid-September my wife and I booked at the Topmast the night before when there was almost nothing available in Lunenburg.  Well are we ever glad we did.  While it is a rustic motel at a budget rate, the location is great and the unit had everything we needed.  Nice to have a balcony with super views of Lunenburg, the harbor sailboats, both at sunset/night and sunrise (if that's your thing).  While it might be hot inside in the summer (no a/c in our unit), the fans were perfect for our night.  We would stay here again.

Great Budget Gem

BEST VIEW OF LUNENBURG YOU CAN GET

Really enjoyed the view, cute balcony, and the host made me feel very welcome. They gave us a gift certificate for dinner and a bottle of wine.
A few minor things could make this place a real gem and a 5 star motel; quality sheets, a better mattress, and a higher standard of cleanliness.
Would stay here again. Very quiet.

Don’t expect luxury, but this motel is clean, well located and has great views. I slept on the sofa bed and it was surprisingly comfy. The only problem was the (very large) window in the bathroom wasn’t frosted and the loo was right in front of it, so you had to remember to pull the curtains every time you went in!

Great views, good value

There is nothing fancy about this place, but it offers great views from the decks, it is clean, it is well equipped and the staff are very friendly and helpful.  You should know that the rooms are not air conditioned, so if it is really hot out even with a cross wind it would probably be uncomfortable.  I wouldn't consider it to be within walking distance to downtown for most people.
