Alpina deluxe & Nebenhaus Sonnberg

undoubtedly the most luxurious, efficient, courteous, genuine , comfortable hotel I have had the utmost pleasure of experiencing anywhere I've visited for a winter ski holiday. From stepping through the ( automatic self opening doors) to my sad day of departure; I wanted for nothing. Although providing outstanding facilities for extended generations of families; ( which I plan to use myself in the future) as a solo traveller it was a pleasure - and never impacted on my own quiet leisure experience for a minute. Although my "single room" in the Annex was, perhaps the smallest single room I've occupied - the comfort and room facilities inside compensated and overall I wanted for nothing ( writing desk, comfy bed, TV, spacious wardrobe and a bathroom perhaps one of the largest I've experienced !! The staff ( shout out for Anita my waitress - efficient yet again genuine welcoming) - made it feel like staying with family. The food quality and variation ( as commonplace to choose your selection from a daily changing menu at breakfast time) was outstanding - in my opinion - 5 star and some Michelin plate restaurants would be challenged to provide equal to . The lounge area so relaxing - great to have tea and light food provided in the afternoon . The boot room ( fantastically organised with room number tags - like the ski room) was a pleasure to use and not a chore as can be the case in mornings . I also made daily use of the well equipped gym ( the best I've experienced in any hotel) both quality and quntity of equipment plus the pool areas ,saunas, whirlpools ( over 16 naked for adults ) plus similar areas for families - was superb. Lacked for nothing . Bathrobes in room, slippers, towels - in plentiful supply . I wanted for nothing in the week - except to stay a second week. Outstanding. The Platzer family set the highest standards which all the staff deliver on . How good ? I've cancelled another pre booked holiday in 2026 to return to Alpina instead.
