Fredrick's Hotel Restaurant & Spa

We last stayed at this spa hotel in 2017 and were so impressed we promised ourselves we would return, but following Covid & the issues all hotels have faced due to Brexit we were concerned whether it would still be as good. The simple answer was, that Fredrick's truly is. The first impressions were that all the public areas inside and out had been properly maintained and still looked like new. We were concerned on arrival on a Saturday for our 3 night booking that the hotel appeared to have few guests and wondered whether this may be the result in lower standards, but this was far from the case. All the staff, without exception, from on reception, in the restaurant, bar, spa and the chamber maids were really friendly and helpful, and the food (even though the menu was reduced from our last visit) was first class - really well presented and of high quality. My wife was very happy with the spa treatments she received and the price was very reasonable compared to other spas, as was the afternoon tea. The pool was also perfect, with half being indoors an half outdoors and it was properly heated. If I had to find any criticism it would only be that some of the wallpaper in our bedroom needed attending to, but that is literally the only thing I could find and was so minor an issue. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Fredrick's - it is our understanding that the current management only took over a year ago, and so it hasn't taken them long to deliver really high standards. It certainly won't be another 6 years before we return!
