The Old Pheasant Hotel

We had a wonderful stay in The Old Pheasant! A warm and heartly welcome and mouthwatering food! The pub is a bit dated, but I'm convinced Bernard will gradually renovate it. In any case, we experienced a great host who does everything he can to please his guests.

A fantastic  Sunday roast. 
We were offered another menu as well. 
Service was excellent everyone so friendly, We were checked on while eating to make sure all was ok and to see if we needed anymore drinks. 
After the plates were removed we were asked if we wanted the dessert menu and then if any coffees. 
The owner and Josh were both fabulous and   we had a laugh with them.  They made the experience even better. 
Highly recommend will definitely be returning.

We arrived at the accommodation jet-lagged after flying in from Sydney. The staff were very friendly and helpful, letting us in early. After a well needed shower, we had a meal in the restaurant and collapsed into a very comfortable bed.

Dinner B&B and what a superb experience it proved to be! A warm welcome upon arrival, shown to lour room which was well appointed and clean and comfortable. The bar area was quiet and very relaxing and a good range of real ales! Only two single Scotch malt whiskies but they were quite rare and excellent! Dinner was delightful, and most satisfying and served with much care and attention. Bernard was the epitome of an excellent and caring host making sure he spoke to all his guests, thank you and your staff in front and behind the scenes for making this a memorable stay - we shall be back........

Very pleasant and helpful Manager and staff. We had a nice-sized room, a little basically furnished but adequate and very clean, with a very comfortable 6’ double bed. Menus gave us a good choice and the food was enjoyed. Very good value for money and, when in the area, this would be our first choice of accommodation.

Fell upon this place whilst looking for somewhere to stay due to dropping our son at north luffenham barracks.
We were not disappointed, after a day spent decorating, cleaning and unpacking we arrived and decided to see if our son could stay too. The lady who greeted us could not have been more accommodating. We also booked a table for food.
We were not disappointed, the food was exceptional. 
Our rooms were spacious, comfortable, clean and a great base for the night.
Breakfast was another outstanding meal, would highly recommend. We will definitely be back.

This was an amazing experience the food was lovley when you have it cooked from Robert Thompson was lovely also the bed was amazing starfished the whole night and room were nice and clean deffo come here 

The food is really home cooked food, and  a very welcoming pub, the menu is on a blackboard, so easy to read and just enough choices to choose from,also good choices with local beer,it was also a very cosy warm pub just what you need.

Not a thing to disappoint us!

Family meal

We had a nice stay at the Old Pheasant. The room was well decorated and the bed comfortable. The pillows are very soft and I was glad I'd brought my own. The bathroom is tight but very clean. There were a few niggles - a dirty glass, music playing from the kitchen stores outside our window which meant we had to close the window although it was hot. There was no breakfast option available. The dinner in the restaurant below was excellent and the serving staff were lovely.

Pleasant weekend stay

We stayed at the Old Pheasant for Burghley weekend.  Highly recommended - very welcoming, pleasant and helpful staff.  Nice pub/inn style decor throughout, with clean and comfortable beds and linen, great shower pressure and plenty of hot water!  
Some items on the menu were unavailable on our first night, but you'd expect that on such a busy weekend.  Wouldn't hesitate to recommend, or to return. Thank you!

It's been quite a while that I had a meal at The Old Pheasant and I was highly delighted to find a much improved venue in every regard. On arrival we were seated very quickly and drinks ordered whilst we chose our food. Service was quick, attentive and professional. The food was delivered quickly and cooked well. The menu is quite varied. The dining area is now much nicer than it used to be. All in all a very pleasant evening and definitely a place to return to.

We decided to stay here because it was a convenient stopping point on a trip from the north to visit Huntingdon the following day. The booking process was very straightforward, the double room was comfortable and well-equipped, the food at dinner and breakfast was excellent, the staff were all very friendly and efficient, and our two dogs were made to feel equally welcome. Highly recommended.

Driving home from Leicester we was looking for a country pub and we stumbled across the old pheasant, what a rare find at present with pubs struggling. The food, the service and ale all lovely. We ate in the bar I had the belly pork it was delicious and my partner had the beef burger equally as nice. We shall be back.

Looking for a County Pub

We were attending the Leicestershire County Show and needed a dog friendly hotel. Discovered this gem of a hotel. When we turned up we were given a very warm and friendly welcome. Our room was a twin with ensuit, everything was immaculately clean and the beds were super comfy. We had had a meal in their restaurant. Excellent good quality food at a reasonable price. The breakfast was superb and again another tasty, well cooked meal. Everyone was so friendly and helpful.  Will definitely stay there again if we are in the area
