Astro Palace Hotel & Spa

From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome and provided with all the relevant information needed to commence our stay at the hotel and on the island. The hotel infrastructure, facilities and location were excellent (7-10min pavement walk into Fira with 2 roads to cross). Yes there is a road at front of hotel but during our stay it was hardly noticeable from the pool and not from our room. Pool and gym area quality excellent including availability. Buffet breakfast, hot, cold, continental, sweet, savoury - you name it it was there - all to high quality and replenished frequently. You will find something for you. Food at poolside snack bar - hot and cold lunches etc all excellent and served until 7.00pm. If you decide not to go out you can get food at hotel, with plenty of choice and once again high quality. Food throughout was excellent. Our room was excellent with usual expectations, Safe, TV, Fridge, tea /coffee tray, hairdryer, towels and shower and balcony. Beds very comfortable and standard of cleaning / cleanliness was excellent. Cleanliness throughout the hotel was 'spot on' including poolside and all public areas. Finally you could not visit this amazing hotel without mentioning the staff. They are / were amazing and a credit to the hotel. From reception to waiters /catering, bar staff to maids and porters - all were friendly, helpful and diligent in their work. Always a smile and patient high quality service with nothing being too much trouble. Excellent advice /guidance on trips around island options for activities etc. Buses cheapest option to get around ( Central bus depot approx 7 mins walk) and not to difficult to use / understand once tried (very frequent). Always someone at depot to help. We also used taxis / organised trips - more expensive but we geared to the need and our want. We did some walking eg up to Oia and around Pyrgos and Vlychada but we are map anoraks. Basically any option available. Spoilt for choice eating out in Fira and elsewhere on the island - food very good - varying prices - just look around. People on the island very friendly across the board making it an amazing week. We would stay at this hotel again if we returned and would not hesitate to recommend to family / friends etc. We had lots of debate about which part of island to stay but whilst a little more expensive than some areas Fira is central to the island for getting to north and south and general travel.
