Palm Royale Resort - Soma Bay

October 21st - 30th 2025 We are back once again at the Palm Royale at what has become one of our top two destinations for two totally different kinds of holidays our other destination being Benidorm for entertainment and night life. The Palm Royale has everything the holiday maker needs for a relaxing pampered stay, a beautiful beach with the crystal clear warm water of the red sea to bathe in. The hotel lobby will be the first thing you see when arriving at the Palm Royale and it's very impressive, at its center, there is the piano bar which is surrounded by a fish pool with lots of beautiful Coy carp. This lobby is quite breathtaking and has a wonderful ambience about it In the evenings seven days a week from 8pm till 11pm there is the wonderful pianist Elena Letyuk, it's always a pleasure to sit and listen to Elena's wonderful music at her piano. The staff here make the hotel what it is, they are nothing short of amazing and cannot do enough for the guests, from the time you arrive to the time you leave, this is what draws us back here now for our 4th visit and we are already planning July 2026. There is plenty of choice at the restaurants to keep everyone happy, the a la carte restaurants offer something different in taste and atmosphere, Lebanese, Italian, Greek, Asian and Oriental, with the main non a la carte restaurant offering a great choice. We ate at the Italian restaurant, very nice indeed, we ate at the Lebononese restaurant, again very nice and also at the Asian restaurant where we were well looked after by Mr Mustafa Elgohary and Mr Maged Ali and their staff and treated to a lovely meal and experience, both Mr Mustafa Elgohary and Mr Maged Ali also run the very popular La Terrace breakfast restaurant where we are spoilt with excellent service every morning. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, there is a program going on in the hotel of upgrading/refurbishment over a period of time most likely to be in the quiet months, but even if you are not allocated a refurbished room as we did not get this time, it's ok they are still a good standard though a little dated (bathroom mainly) but not a problem. If you book direct with the hotel there are some great perks, the hotel will collect and return you to the airport around a 40 minute journey, you will get access to the La Terrace breakfast restaurant overlooking the pool areas and sea, normal cost would be €20 per adult and €10 per child, so a good saving to be had there and the vibe is really good with a service not to be matched. There are 4 pool areas, to cater for everyone, a large shallow pool for the little ones, next to that is a pool which is slightly deeper for children, next to that one there is the pool swim up bar, mainly but not exclusively for the older person as this is a swimmers pool quite deep, the fourth pool is in what is known as the quiet area located by the spar and gym, I've not seen this area ever busy which is good as it's a nice escape if needed from the louder busier pool areas. The Azure bar/restaurant is located by the main pools, this offers snacks and beverages from 12pm through till 5pm, I believe you can get drinks here prior to 12pm but not food. The beach areas are really nice with plenty of sun beds and beach umbrellas to go around, halfway up the beach there is a beach bar area serving drinks for takeout or sit in to drink, there is also a waiter who will bring drinks for you if wanted, but please keep in mind this poor guy has a lot of ground to cover so it maybe quicker to go yourself. The Aqua center is located on the beach and here you can buy most any watersports you desire. In the evenings there is Johnny's bar, this has a really nice indoor area for drinks, it's more like a sports bar with TV's to watch sports, it also has a pool table. Outside Johnny's bar there is a large sitting area with entertainment every night, except Sundays when it is Karaoke night, which I really enjoy. Across from Johnny's bar there is a stage area which is mainly for the children's entertainment but not exclusively so. The entertainment team does a fantastic job throughout the day and night doing what they do best organizing things to join in with, which has a 10/10 from me for effort. 👏👏👏👏 My wife and I normally use this particular vacation as a relaxing destination, the exception this time is that our daughter and granddaughter came with us, so it's been a little more active for me this time with my granddaughter, sofa surfing and parasailing. The Staff at reception are always there to help if help is needed, if you have a problem they will put it right asap. We are going to mention a few names who we have come to know fairly well over the past four visits, but all the staff are amazing and too many to mention.
