Axel Guldsmeden

I love the atmosphere at Guldsmeden — a real oasis just around the corner from the center of Copenhagen. It’s only about a five-minute walk from the train to reception, and the location makes it very easy to get around the city. I stay in many hotels when traveling for work, but Guldsmeden is one of the few places where I actually bring my family to spend time. It genuinely feels like a home away from home, not just a place to sleep. The rooms are clean and decorated in a very authentic and cozy style. As expected for a central location, there is some city noise, but no traffic — just the normal vibe of being in the heart of Copenhagen. The hotel is located in Vesterbro, one of the most interesting and vibrant areas of Copenhagen. Within a very small area, you’ll meet all sides of the city — locals, creatives, families, and visitors — which gives the neighborhood a unique energy. There are also many excellent restaurants, cafés, and bars right outside the door, making it easy to enjoy Copenhagen without having to go far. The price is very fair compared to similar hotels nearby, especially when you consider the strong focus on organic and environmentally friendly choices throughout the hotel. The breakfast is fantastic, with high-quality organic ingredients, and even small details — like the organic, eco-friendly shampoo and products in the rooms — show a genuine commitment to sustainability. Taken together, it feels like very good value for money. This is probably not the right hotel if you’re looking for a typical business hotel with no personality — but if you appreciate character, warmth, and a green mindset, Guldsmeden is a great choice.
