5 reviewsWe went there recently and were impressed by the polite, kind and very accommodating service (they provided a separate room for me to breastfeed in, much appreciated) and the super stylish interior as well as a peaceful, relaxing ambience the cafe area has. The afternoon tea set was fabulous, with many options, beautifully presented and tasting wonderful. We chose the set with both sweet and savoury snacks but you can choose just sweet if you prefer, which I think I would next time. My favourite savoury snack were the tacos and sweet one was the coconut mousse. The tea was TWG. Unfortunately the whole set was really let down by the scones.I absolutely love good fluffy scones with home-made jam and clotted cream and was very much looking forward to them as there aren't many places in GZ serving proper scones. Sadly, the chef at Amber East doesn't seem to know how to make scones as they were stodgy and dry, with a jam so watery it dripped like juice and the cream was way too thin and just didn't go with the rest taste-wise. If only they improved the scones, it would be perfect!The price (268rmb for two) was great compared to some other hotels and I'd highly recommend it!
