We were told to check in at 14 o'clock, but nobody was there when we arrived. After we called the number displayed on the door, a kind sir came to welcome us. After we paid and got the keys, he went away.
We stayed in room 2: large, one double bed and a single. The badroom was clean, but not what you can call modern. We did have warm water and a whirlpool (that seemed 20 years old).
In general, we would call it a retro, but cosy room. 
However, for those who want neatness, this might not be 'the thing'. Everything was clean, but it's clear that it's an old building and that they don't have the ambition to become a 4 star hotel.
We liked it: 90's atmosphere, free entrance and a good, simple breakfast. Maybe just too expensive.

We liked it, others won't..

When we arrived at 4 p.m., the hotel was locked. We rana and rang, to no avail. 10 minutes after a telephone call,  the owner came cycling up. He asked us to pay in advance, cash only. He was not welcoming and spoke only Flemish. The room was rudimentary (shower in a cupboard, loo and hand-basin in another.) In the toilet, all the pipes were rusty and filthy and there were suspicious brown splashes on the wall-paper. However, the room was relatively spacious and the bed was comfortable enough for one night, especially as we knew that all other possibilities were booked up. We also encountered another client who regretted that she was condemned to staying 5 nights in total! Never again!
