Barceló San Salvador

My stay at the hotel went fantastic, and I have almost nothing negative to mention. The hotel is located in a very nice and Americanized area of San Salvador; there are many different restaurants, cafes, shops and other businesses around; and the area feels very safe. If you need to get to the historic center of the city, you can easily Uber there, and the ride would take only 12-15 minutes. But I personally walked, and the walk there took me about 1 hour, which was not a problem for me as a first-time tourist. Little tip here – don’t stay in the historic center of San Salvador, because it doesn’t look that nice or well-maintained like the Zona Rosa area (where the hotel is) does. The hotel is located inside a nice-looking building, and it’s designed absolutely beautifully! There are marble floors and beautiful carpets, plus many sculptures and pictures on the walls. The hotel looks very elegant and classy, and I loved it. Plus, everything was kept clean all the time! My check-in was fast and easy. A day before my arrival, I called the hotel front desk asking them to let me check in around noon, and also to give me a room on a high floor with nice city views. Both of my wishes were granted. I got to the hotel before noon, and my room was already ready – no extra charges for early check-in. The front desk worker who assisted me was extremely sweet and nice (actually, all of them were! I never met anyone rude or unhelpful from the hotel staff). My Standard Room (#619) was great, and my stay there was extremely comfortable. The room was simple but classy and elegantly designed. It was large, all the furniture was in good condition, and the room was perfectly clean. I absolutely enjoyed the view from the big window, which could be opened when I wanted some fresh air inside. The King-size bed was super comfortable. The closet was very big and had a safe, iron, bathroom robes and plenty of hangers. There were many lights around the room. I also liked having a little coffee table with a soft chair near the window, plus the main table with an office chair. The biggest minus in the room was not many visible or easily reachable electric plugs; I had to move the little nightstands next to the bed to plug in my devices. Also the TV could use an upgrade to a larger, more modern model. The bathroom was made from marble and was big. I loved having a bathtub; even though it was kind of small for me, I wished it were larger. The bathroom amenities were of good quality. Another little downside in the bathroom was no toilet brush, and the hotel couldn’t provide me with one, so I had to buy it from Walmart just to have it there. The hotel’s Wi-Fi worked well and fast during my entire stay. I never had housekeeping service in my room during my 5-night stay, but if I needed something, I called the front desk and they sent someone right away. Every time it took like 6–8 minutes of waiting. I also want to mention the hotel has a little souvenir shop in the lobby close to the front desk. Plus, you can rent a car right there – my partner and I did that. They have rental cars parked on the lower parking levels of the hotel, which is great and convenient. We rented a car for 3 days, and there was always a parking spot available for it. For my stay I paid $124 per night, and I find this price reasonable for the hotel’s nice quality and my personal positive experience. I declare that if I come back to San Salvador one day, I will stay specifically at this hotel again! And I absolutely recommend this hotel to everyone if you care about comfort and safety for a reasonable amount of money.
