Our room for 2 adults and 1 child was priced at £18 and our friends room (single man In twin bedroom) £14...it was very comfortable the bedroom clean with tv and balcony which was also safe and clean..the shower, sink and toilet were all clean but basic... Shower rail corroded around the top and shower curtain  very dated but much much better than any similarly priced places...the staff were extremely friendly and the small restaurant quaint and welcoming, yes there's no lift but its a small family run guest house with only about 5 floors and breakfast time was a joy...young man happy to run out to get our  child bottled water...breakfast was soft bread rolls and Arabic bread with various quality jams, English butter and cheese triangles then omlettes all round all served with juice, tea and coffee...while saxophonist Kenny g was played gently in the background..
Things have obviously changed here there was no night club  noise, no cigarette ends and no dirt! ...if in doubt look round first...that costs nothing...


Much better than any other of the cheaper hotels in port said....

This was without a doubt one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. 

There was no wifi available at all, the T.V. didn't work, and the bathrooms were absolutely filthy. Moreover, the pillows and beds were extremely uncomfortable. 

Worst of all, however, was the fact that I got insect bites as soon as I lay down on the beds. At around 45$ a night for foreigners (which has to be paid in foreign currency - foreign currency which I didn't have!), this hotel is incredibly overpriced. I would highly recommend against staying here.

Terrible - Dirty and Overpriced

Since this hotel was written about in Lonely Planet 2006, it has been seriously neglected, is a major health risk, I very strongly advise no-one to stay here. The list of things wrong with this hotel is endless: dark, dingy, dirty, unhelpful, noisey, nothing works in the room, sullen staff, non-existent elevators, no towels, toilet rolls (or holders!), no drainage, filthy walls, no air-conditioning, and the final straw - a razor blade in the toilet!
I'm sorry to say we stayed in it one night, not that we slept with the noise from a nightclub across the road, numerous taxi and bus horns and general racket, guests arriving at 2.00am and re-arranging the room next to ours, with a screaming baby.... After repeated requests for breakfast in the dining room the next morning, which was unlit, there was no chef as he had 'gone out', we checked the kitchen - retched at the filth, dirty dishes, blocked sink, numerous piles of cigarette butts and ash, greasy walls & floor, etc - paid for our night and got the hell out as quick as we could.
We ended up paying for a rather expensive night at a Sonesta after that, but there is the Holiday or the New Concorde which looked far better prospects in the mid-range hotels, and plenty of people eating at the cafes on the ground floor - always a good sign.!
