Hostel Dannita

I stayed in this hostel alone for 3 nights in July, and I would recommend it to everyone looking for relaxation and a friendly host! As soon as I arrived, the Solanda told me that I was booked into a room with 5 boys, so if I wanted, I could stay in a private room with a private bathroom for the same price - what a service! The room was great - spacious, comfy bed, fan, and a functioning bathroom. I spent most of my time reading in the comfy hammocks, chatting to Solanda and her husband. They were really so lovely and so interested to know all about me, and just chat - they even invited me to join the family for dinner in the hostel one evening! They were truly lovely. It's a shame that the hostel doesn't have too many photos and doesn't advertise itself very well - I arrived in Puerto Lopez just to see what I could find, and didn't have much luck. I didn't really trust Hostel Dannita because there wasn't much about it online, but I had no other option! But I am so pleased that I did. It was great value compared with other hostels in PL ($8/night!), and is located in a quiet sidestreet, just a 2 min walk from the supermarket and the beautiful beach. Puerto Lopez itself is a little run-down - more so after the earthquake this year unfortunately - although it is still charming and worth a visit!
