Tangara Lodge

We arrive for the easter break of 2011 early in the morning after a bus ride. Unfortunately the first thing we found was an unoccupied reception... Once the staff would show up, she would inform us we had to wait another half an hour until our room would be ready, even though we mentioned out early arrival. What impressed us most while waiting for the room was the view from the terrace. It is really nice, over viewing a valley with the "rio blanco". At 10am we went for a jungle hike and the nature was really nice. Unfortunately the guide would not tell us a thing about what we were looking at, and couldn't answer quite a few questions. We were told that our hiking shoes would be fine for the hike, but late we discovered we had to cross knee deep creeks and some parts we just sunk in mud. There were the only shoes we had brought so that was not a great thing. The hotel even had rubber boots, but no one told us that they would be highly recommended... So in case you go for this hike, ask for boots!!!! In the afternoon we rented 1 Quadbike (15$/h). It was an ok ride. Nothing out of the order. The food was very good, and you even get always 2 meals to choose from and both always sounded very yummy. We booked an eco-cabaña. The view is just as nice as from the suites, just the beds are very noisy... So we were afraid to disturb the neighbours. In the evening it was very peaceful. No annoying music and just few people around. Summarized, it is a very nice location and the staff is super friendly. The price however (72$pp & per night) is a little high in my opinion.
