Finca-Hostería El Retiro

We had gotten some recommendations from family members that had stayed here before, so we decided to give it a try. Some of the available activities attracted us right away because there was something for everyone in my party. My daughter loves animals and more specifically Horses - This an "Hacienda" with thoroughbred horses... also all kinds of farm animals: Cows, chickens, pigs, boars, Lama, guinea pigs, miniature horses, goats, sheep, ostrich, rabbits, etc.she was delighted. My wife likes to meditate and religion, they have their own "Capilla" and a copper roof meditation room (? - it has something to do with magnetism I believe). I like trails, nature walks, beaches and getting a great massage! What really won us over though was the staff... they were fantastic! They made us feel like we were some kind of royalty, but never to be overwhelming... it seemed like every time we needed something there was someone there to make it happen... if they couldn't do it themselves, they took a motorcycle ride to town and brought us who could... Like for instance, my wife wanted to get her hair done as well as a manicure and pedicure... no problem... 15 to 20 minutes later the town hairdresser was in our room working on her, it was great. Food was great as well, with most of everything grown by them or by local neighboring farms. Coffee was fantastic! The fruit has a different color in this area, and they're sharp. Fresh milk, cheese, yogurt, etc. The cool thing was that when you where done with all the relaxing... you're only about 5 to 10 minutes away from Montanita, which is a very nice International "Party" town ;) You will also find any kind of foods here: local, seafood, burgers, pizza, etc. Many street vendors, streets shows, restaurants, clubs, etc. The party starts at 11ish.. We are definitely planning a return trip and would recommend many friends to this place.
