The bed sheets were not clean.  The shower was dirty.

We decided to stay with my parents and wife and children, and since our arrival they helped us with our luggage and were always on the lookout for us to be comfortable. I recommend their cafeteria. They have a cheap menu and above all an excellent atmosphere for family enjoyment. Our van was in their parking lot and everything was very safe throughout our stay. Our children greatly enjoyed the view of the balcony and the kindness of their staff. 100% recommended.

EXCELLENCE HOSTAL FOR FAMILY with adults and children.

Just and necessary, the main thing is the cleanliness that was up to the task. I don't say it's excellent because breakfast could have been included. The attention is quite good and attentive. As for safety, it's also quite good. It matched exactly what we were looking for.

A comfortable and clean hotel

Super clean and friendly place. The room is a sheer joy. Nice yellow paint with a very comfortable bed and plenty of furniture.  I stayed here 15 days and really look forward to going back. Furthermore the kitchen and rooftop views are nirvana. 

Hasta la vista

Absolutely perfect

Stayed for a couple nights and it was great.  At a minimum, I need a hot shower, firm bed & cleanliness.  Got it all.  Even better: the patio/balcony (3rd floor) was quiet & overlooked the waterfall (close enough to HEAR it in AM & PM); even in the rain, we sat under the roof eaves & enjoyed it.  I had brought earplugs (after all, a city in Ecuador is bound to have dogs, trucks...), but I never needed them.  

We had breakfast included-- a simple continental breakfast that was filling & delicious (many a la carte options to add too).  The restaurant below was fantastic & very reasonably priced.  The owners were SO ATTENTIVE!!  A couple questions arose (minor) and all was attended to quickly & so helpfully.  I would *easily* stay again.

Great place ... and QUIET!

It's an excellent holiday hostel. The quality of service of their work team is spectacular. They are always looking out for us to be comfortable. The rooms are very comfortable and in good condition. The cafeteria has an excellent menu. They have a wife and a 24-hour garage. My wife and son enjoy arriving and staying at Hostal Carolina.

The perfect place to go as a family.

Pros: Awesome breakfast downstairs, fairly large room, decent sized bed, price was pretty good value, daily housekeeping kept the place quite clean, laundry service was good, wifi was available throughout. Location was good and central.

Cons: rooms was on street and there was quite a lot of noise that Could be heard, bathroom was tiny and shower flooded everytime it was used, there is a kitchen but it was basically unusable for proper cooking.

Decent budget hostel, great breakfast but a little noisy

The hostel may not be surprising in its facade and entrance but it does in its rooms and terrace. It is very clean, very attentive and courteous. Its costs are quite economical, it is a good idea if you want a good value for money.

Comfortable and centrally located.

Family run business with the Good Café next door, run by the son.  
Comfortable and clean room with en suite bathroom with hot/cold running water. Very good selection of complimentary breakfast. Great view from the roof top terrace. Located central but quiet. Laundry service available. Very nice people.  Would stay again. 
Tip: get a massage next door at "Osaka" (ask for Jessica)

Above expectation!

Location is perfect, not too close to the loudly zone but within a few minutes walk. Close to everything really (hotsprings, tour offices, restaurants, center of town, etc, etc) The family that runs the hostal are very professional and make you feel relaxed and welcomed. Place is very clean and safe. We were fortunate to have a view of the waterfall from our room. Delicious breakfast.
