Perfect resort with chill atmosphere. Pool bar , offers all inclusive to vrbo customers, well worth it. Recommend renting a car instead of paying high cab  fair. Go explore awesome time. Snorkeling was great , day trip to santo Domingo , everything else was relatively close for excursions. Cheap souvenirs located in Bavarro beach.. Sort of like a flea market. Definitely a great resort, great staff.. Esp the bartender Luis. 

...But it's the lovely people who served us that made this vacation spot so memorable! The staff did back-flips (literally) to make sure that we were happy. They'd engage in conversations with us from the get-go to insure all of our vacation needs were met. My husband and I were insecure about driving around in a foreign country that had a reputation for scary driving, Cappacino gave us a personal tour, in our own car, to alleviate our concerns so we could venture forth, confident. And there were many others, names I can't recall, who went out of their way to make us happy. We will return.

Staff are super friendly and helpful. Samuel is amazing. We enjoyed our weekend. With COVID we didn’t want to be around crowds so this couldn’t be better the beach can’t be more private and you can have food deliver even late a night.

I had a great vacation here. Two of the staff members (Capuchino and Alexandra) were very helpful and made our stay beyond pleasant. I would recommend this resort to anyone visiting Punta Cana. Great staff interaction with activities and there driving desire to satisfy the people visiting.

I had a great stay at Sotogrande. I knew as I was  approaching that the place was going to be great.I made reservations through a website with the owners .It's like a resort but more like a private community. I was staying in a penthouse that was fabulous. Very spacious throughout. The property consists of 2 restaurants one poolside. The food was delicious. You can also visit a neighboring hotel and purchase a day pass if you like with all inclusive. You have access to the entire resort meals included beach access, spa etc.But you can also stay at Sotogrande they greet you with a welcome drink and cold towel the staff was bilingual. They have a huge pool and 2 jacuzzi's.This place is for relaxing not alot of noise just the sound of the ocean or if you stay close to the pool you will hear the music from the poolside restaurant. But I had a lovely experience, I know some of the units are privately owned .I met the owner of my Penthouse personally and she was very informative and thorough. I highly recommend to all .Not crowded at all .

We just spent a month in a wonderful condo at Soto Grande Cap Cana.  We had a few issues when checking in, but  everything was as fine in the end.  There  is not a regular coffee pot or toaster in the unit, so we bought one.  Hydro costs were quite reasonable and Internet  was excellent.  Certainly a lovely spot to relax.  We had one huge issue with the property and that was the constant music that was played at the pool.  We asked over and over to turn it down , but it was the same grind everyday.  They  kept telling us that "the people" wanted music.  There  were many Days of hardly any people.  The music very obviously is for the staff, not guests, as it is a constant thump, thump, thump.  That is not necessary, as all guests  we observed were reading, sleeping or had headphones on.  We would not return or  recommend this location for long term visits, if one is looking for a quiet spot.  Too bad, as it is a lovely property with nice people.

Very private beach

Very friendly staff

We signed a 1-year contract for unit 8303 in June 2022 with Arichy Realty after getting assurances that certain items would be fixed at move-in.  They were not, but we moved in anyway. Every week we were told "soon."  Next, Arichy said they were not our administrator, and we'd have to deal with the owner's representative, who was not local.  Then the September 2022 hurricane hit, destroying the balcony overlooking the ocean, damaging the roof and more. We stayed when we should have probably left, thinking repairs would soon be made. We were the ones dealing with the insurance adjusters, and, eventually, repair people.  By the end of January, the unit was mostly fixed, only after several of our personal items were damaged by repair personnel (painters not covering items appropriately; roofer leaving mid-job and then it naturally rained that night, which caused a waterfall on top of our laptop).  In February 2023, seeing Sotogrande itself not coming back to life, we had enough. (Details on that below.) The owner kept our deposit (legally she was able to, but we were excellent tenants who coordinated everything for her, we expected a courtesy return of some of it,  and she refused to pay for damage to our computer and other items).  So, we don't recommend this unit, the owner or the realty company that did the contract and walked away.

Sotogrande 10 years ago looks like a fantastic place.  Today it is a different story. While it  boasts a wonderful pool (albeit with a closed pool bar) and very nice employees, it has zero open restaurants, a small beach without cabanas (the ones in the photo were knocked down and removed), no gym and no BBQ area.  Our building had zero working elevators for three months after the storm and only 1 when we left.  The entire complex needs new roof tiles.  Drywall repair to ceilings in exterior hallways had not begun five months after the hurricane.  Exterior stairwells remained exposed to the hazard of one false step and you would plunge over the side.

We hope this review helps travelers know what to expect as we see listings on AirBnB and elsewhere not being truthful about the conditions here at Sotogrande.  For a much better experience, for long-term renting along the water, we recommend Sports Illustrated Resorts and Fishing Lodge or the Marina.

Avoid Sotogrande Unit #8303

We arrived at our destination with no one to greet us.  The "host" never did show up, but sent a helper who barely spoke english.  There was leftover food in the freezer, dirty towels on the floor, and a window screen that did not work.  When I requested he fix it he showed me how to lift it up to get under it.   The grill had no gas and was filthy.   The beach had a three foot wide by two foot high pile of seaweed across the whole thing.   There was also a small homeless encampment to one side of the beach.   When we requested a cancellation the host Nicko insisted that he can't control mother nature.   While this may be true, someone could have cleaned the beaches months ago.   He posted photos on his listing in AirBnB that showed pristine beaches and clear water.   The restauarants onsite are closed and the place is just a disaster.  Buyer beware!!
