Casa Mariposa

I went there and casa paraíso is just amazing. Charming, rural home, beach is just there. I enjoy a lot being there. I recommend it a lot 

I had great seafood direct from the sea to my table. 

Michael is a great person always trying to make your staying more happy and comfortable.

Casa Paraiso is not a place to sleep. Casa Paraiso is a state of mind. It is the posibility to live Dominican life in contact with nature, the opportunity to meet so many people, speaking four different languages simultaneously, to share thoughts and feelings. The greatest gift that made Casa Paraiso to me, it was to find what I was looking for: peace, life in contact with nature, find myself and find many new friends. I laughed so much in the past days here, as I did not laugh for years. I built important things, and I break the walls I had built.
This is what I received here
I think anyone books here, and not in a resort, do it for a precise reason.
This is not a 5* hotel, this is a sort of hostel, with no limit of age, for young, but also for mature travellers.
Anyone who does not find what I described, perhaps do not approached this place with the right spirit. Thanks Miguel

I loved Miguel's Hostel, I stayed in his treehouse bedroom! Absolutely stunning location, 10 metres up, best room of the Casa Paraiso hostel.  Miguel is a wonderful host, everything is 'no problem'.  A lift to the supermarket, a taxi ride to the airport, local knowledge, spanish lessons, the list goes on, he sorted everything out for us. He has 3 very friendly dogs too, loved cuddling with them.  Loved chilling on the terrace in the evenings with the other guests. Loved cooking in the giant, amazingly well equipped and professional communal kitchen - best kitchen in a hostel i've ever stayed in!  Banana trees in the garden, a very short walk to the beautiful surfy Macao Beach, 10 minutes if you dawdle slowly, a few small grocery stores and a little gift/souvenir shop also very close by - brilliant location. Just had a fantastic time here.  Me gusta mucho la Casa Paraiso!!

The property is really clean, quiet and refeshing. Is close to everything.

An Amazing place

Excellent Tree House Stay!!!!

Love casa paraíso 

Pros- the house is nice, the kitchen is amazing, the price is good, there is decent wifi, and the beach is close.

Cons- The host's name is Michael. During our three week stay we witnessed so many things that are simply not ok. He has a couple of good reviews because he pressures guests into leaving reviews as soon as they arrive. He was charging guests who had prepaid via airbnb, saying that they hadn't paid. He was charging guests who booked through booking.com additional taxes which he made up. He cooked with guests' food without asking and even had the audacity to take food directly off my plate without saying a word. He made an arrangement with one guest where he would cook the food she bought and they would eat together, and then sold some of the dinner to two other guests at $5us per plate without involving her. He normally slept in one of the private rooms, but whenever he had an attractive solo female traveler, he slept in the bed directly next to them in a separated part of the dorm. Two of them felt uncomfortable enough to just leave. He went to the bar with a couple of guests, and at the end of the night they gave him money for the tab. Instead of paying the tab he pocketed the money and caused a fight between the guests and the barmen. He never returned the money. He told people they would receive a discount if they did work for him (cleaning, admin, etc), and then he would charge them the full amount anyway. He charged different people wildly different amounts for a variety of things including beer delivery, airport shuttling, rides to the supermarket, and all other sorts of things. During our stay a few things went missing including, a pair of jeans, whatever money we had left in our room, and a belt. I'll let you guess who had the only key.

Closing remarks- People who only stay two or three nights and avoided the host, seemed to get on alright. For a longer stay just, don't make the same mistake we did. If you're on a tight budget, there is a hostel right down the road with very competitive prices. Stay there instead, they include breakfast.

Great place, Terrible host

Book casa through Booking .com but when we arrived from airport at 9.00 pm they had let our rooms for 4 adults and 2 children.
DO NOT GO THERE.
We arrived in dark had to walk down the unmade road as Taxi was touching the ground about 1 mile very difficult to find and I think the property had a for sale sign outside did not speak English and would not recommend another place to stay.
