This guest house is only maybe a 10 to 15 minute walk from town depending how you walk .
The rooms are clean and the air condition in my room was exceptional.
There was breakfast  which included toast fresh fruit hot drinks and juices. If you wanted eggs, bacon etc you had to pay extra..
In the,lounge area was a fridge freezer, a kettle with tea and coffee making facilities.

Short Ride From Roseau

Stayed here for 4 nights while visiting Dominica. At first glace the neighborhood looks a little sketchy, but it was perfectly fine. This place is located about a 5 minute walk into town. The bus stops were also only 5 minutes away. My room was small, basic, and clean enough. The WiFi worked good. The owners were also very nice. If you need a budget guest house close to everything in Roseau, then St James is worth looking at.

Best hardworking Family Business Couple - PHIL & CAROL. We had a beautifullllll 🌺 comfortable room where we could sit in the balcony especially on evenings view the City and boats oling the sea while enjoying the Sunset. Service was at 100% in every aspect.  Blessings on ST.JAMES GUESTHOUSE.

Vacationing from St.Luica

Was a great time at St.james.the owners and their crew are very kindly and be always there ,when you need some help! We had a good time at Roseau and the vegetarian Acras at dinner are the best you get at Roseau!👌😃 

Great time

We had booked a one night stay at Saint James Guesthouse for our last night in Dominica. 
At the moment we arrived we saw the landlady outside and said “Hello!”.
To which she did not reply but merely said “park the car the other way around”. The tone was given.

We then went to her office for the check in and she required us to pay the amount of the stay immediately. We showed her the Booking.com application which clearly stated “You’ll pay in advance. The property will charge you in full before your stay”. Although we showed her the application she called us “liars” 5 minutes after we arrived.

Naturally, we then asked to use the WiFi in the courtyard to actually check if the payment had been proceeded on our bank account - to which she replied that she is already too nice to let us use the WiFi...
She then came back to us in the courtyard, to just be agressive : “you’re annoying with your cigarette smoke” (and it was allowed to smoke in the courtyard). 

Literally we were shocked by her attitude since that’s not what one should expect from a hostel runner 5 mn after arrival. She obviously clearly has no idea about hostel standards. We then have asked if she had any kind of problem with us and what was the reasons for her aggressivety. She said that she “always have problems with people staying for one night”. What problem? The fact that we want to double check if we don’t pay twice... ? That seemed pretty legitimate to us and I believe it would be for any other traveler travelling on a budget. 
She then has asked us to leave her place and said she did not want us.

The thing is that we are two guys travelling and for budget reasons we had booked a double room. She acted surprised to see two guys instead of a couple, and we clearly felt like we were being discriminated by her. 

This woman definitely needs to learn some lessons on how you treat guests because she clearly had no idea. Running a hostel is not just taking our money, it is also welcoming people properly and without rudeness - which she did not know how to do. I have travelled in 30+ countries and I had never been treated so badly in any hostel and talked so rudely.

I therefore strongly do not recommend this hostel and put a big ZERO to this hostel and especially to the landlady for its rudeness, aggressivity, lacks of standards and most of that homophobic behaviour.

DO NOT GO THERE!

It was not first choice but eventually our stay in this hotel turned out to be quite good. The hotel is 5 minutes walk out of Roseau center,  making it relatively protected from the city noise while everything is still easily accessible. The rooms are very clean and although ours had two double beds making it a bit cramped we’ve seen others that looked pretty convenient. Good equipment for the hotel category (excellent WiFi, modern safe). A basic breakfast is included and efficiently served. Not a bad address at all.

Did the job 

Rossou does not have many finer restaurants, and they are hard to find. I found the restaurant at the St. James Guesthouse to be on the upper end. They have a small section in the rear of the facilty, nice outdoor ambiance and friendly atmosphere.  Their goal is to continue to improve the quality. Enjoy!

Finer food in Rossou

Very convenient for walking to town and the port plus for driving to the Roseau valley. Nice breakfast with fruit, tea and toast. Friendly staff and pleasant environment. Not a fancy hotel but a very good guesthouse with everything you need including communal fridge and microwave.

We stayed 3 nights at St James Guesthouse, 10 min walk from the port.
The room was simple, yet beautiful and very clean. The breakfast (included) is delicious : fruits and coffee or tea. The dinner (not included) is even more tasteful, as you have a wide range of choices.
The hosts are very helpful and professional, plus we liked the fact that we had a key for the building (very colourful and beautifully made inside and out). We STRONGLY recommand this hotel and will surely come back there !!

FANTASTIC

I still follow the owners on Facebook.  Very clean and great breakfast.  Central area to get around in Dominica.  The owners were SO helpful and provided a local guide to take me around the island.  Would definitely stay here again.
