Hundige Strand Camping & Cottages

This was our first experience camping in Europe which is very different from camping in the U.S. We don't speak Danish but had no problems at all making the reservations via email & phone, checking in, etc. We rented a cabin that had 4 bunkbeds that pulled out from the wall and a large loft that could easily sleep 2-3 adults. There were clean sheets and fluffy duvets waiting on the beds when we arrived. The cabin was very clean and adorable. The outside looked like a fairy-tale house, our girls loved it. The inside was small but very efficient as everything folded up neatly when not in use. There was a small fridge but no running water. This wasn't a problem since right next door was a little recreation building that had a kitchen in it (as well as a TV and some games). A few steps down the bath led to a very clean bathroom with toilets and sinks. A bit of a longer walk led to the private showers which were also very clean. Across the road from the campground was a lovely beach (be aware, many public beaches are topless or nude if this bothers you. We had 4 young children with us, our 2 sons who were under age 10 and our 2 daughters who were under age 7, they couldn't have cared less - just thought I'd mention this to any American/Canadian readers since it's not common here and our beach culture is different. Anyway, there was a nice little cafe/ice cream shop at the entrance to the camp ground that served hot food cooked fresh. There was also an Aldi grocery market just down the road a bit. And yes, it's the same Aldi we have in the U.S., just in Danish :) European camping differs from American camping in that campers are VERY close to one another. Where in the U.S., each spot is a comfortable distance apart (except maybe if you're camping next to an amusement park or something) with privacy. This wasn't an issue with us because we wanted to get to know who was staying near us and Danes are pretty friendly and interested in American accents. The entire experience was just wonderful and I would love to go visit again. The staff were friendly, helpful and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable in a strange country after traveling so far. Highly recommend this clean, quiet, beautiful camp site. You can tent camp, bring your camper (or caravan as I think they call them) or rent a very nice cabin.
