The Herman Bang B&B is looking somewhat worn out. There seems to be a makeover in the happening which could give it a lift. 
The beds in the room provided some good sleep but there was a lot of noise from the street. The bathroom was almost flooded after taking a shower.

Need a makeover

No hot water in the shower. The bed was fine and looked clean. The rest was kind of clean. We couldn’t shut the window because of the heat inside. No AC either. Therefore we had to listen to sound of the docks all night. Also woke up at 5:30 because of the lousy curtain….

Hot n Cold

It was good ..it was worth it ..The only downside was if people next to your room are crazy and noisy then it’s annoying as you can hear them… probably the walls are really thin.

Not bad

Really clean and central but a lot of stairs so if you have any sort of mobility problems I wouldn’t recommend this place as there isn’t banisters on both sides, our room unfortunately leaked quite bad when it was raining. Breakfast is available, but it’s at another hotel and it costs extra. 
On the good points it is in a very good location and it was really clean, they don’t service your room though and the beds weren’t very comfortable

Good overall but not great

We booked this room for one night, which is located in a stable just behind the main hotel, from which we picked up the keys. Basically, the facility operates both the hotel formula and the B&B. Near the B&B there is a public parking lot where you can leave the car. The room was simple, basic, but big enough as the bathroom. The staff were very kind and polite to give us all the information. We didn't have breakfast because it seemed a bit expensive but also because we had to go on a trip early.

The normal

We deciced on a weekend in Frederikshavn and looked around for a cheap place to stay. We found this "bed and breakfast", which actually dont serve breakfast. This place belongs to the Best Western Herman Bang, which can be found a few blocks away. Its at that hotel where you check in and will be given a key to the "bed and breakfast". Thats also where breakfast is served. It should be mentioned as one of the best we ever had at a hotel! Anyway, the B&B is an old house with two floors of rooms. Its all very clean and tidy, basic furniture and not much more. Its a place to sleep before the next destination, which makes its perfectly ok!

Totally ok!

The information shown on TripAdvisor is incorrect - the parking is NOT free, you have to pay 65/69 DKK per 24h !!!

I'm unsure who's responsible (this B&B or Bookings.com) for the misleading advert. When you book a 'Bed and Breakfast', you expect you get both bed and breakfast in the amount you pay. Here, we were asked to pay for the breakfast separately. The room too small to be comfortable, the washroom door obstructed the drawers. The worst part was the 'double bed' - it was barely 1.5 bed and we had a tough time. My friend stayed in a nearby hotel(not a B&B) and got a far better deal than us. Parking can be tricky. Read the details before you book, check if you get any better deals around this location.

Avail as the last option/resort

We booked on-line because we were experiencing fully booked hotels. The place has an unpleasant smell when you first walk in, and the room smells of stale body oil. The paint is chipped and the carpets are dirty and worn. The room itself is serviceable. Thank goodness we’re only staying one night. And they charge extra for parking. Only positive is the location. 

Keep looking - don’t stay here 

Hotel was in a good location.  Did look a bit tired and could have done with a bit of love and attention.  For my taste it was a little bit basic but served us very well.  Breakfast buffet was rather good down the road and hotel had parking!

Nice breakfast

We went with family of four to Herman Bang B&B for one night. Room was large enough and clean. The bathroom was really small and showering wet all the floor. The bathroom mirror was too high and there was no other mirror in the room. The mattresses were too soft for my taste. The room had a beautiful skylight. There was no curtain in the window. In the morning / evening the rooms did not get dark.

Downstairs there was both a living room and a game room with pool table and foosball. The lobby had a kettle but no cups. Under the bathroom faucet were too little room for kettle so we did not boil the water.

B&B had free wifi. It was slow, but worked ok. There was lot of stairs and no elevator. This B&B do not fit for wheelchair.

We arrived at 8pm. All the parking spaces in the backyard of the house were booked. We parked at the yard of the nearest bank.

Breakfast was served at a nearby hotel, which was a short walk away. The breakfast was varied and tasty. The waiter filled the table half an hour before the end of the breakfast.

We were happy with the accommodation.
