Pension Antica

It's in a really good position from the main railway station, just a short walk away. I was really impressed with the rooms and the service. The hotelier was really friendly and helpful. She also spoke good English which helped a lot, gave us good advice and tried to assist in every way possible. We were using it as a base to see the Historical Festival and it's an excellent location within a short walk from the centre and easy to find. One member of staff seemed a bit terse at first but that was just personality and not to be judged for. The rooms we were allotted were spacious and the beds were comfortable and the breakfasts were wonderful. Everything was really clean; better than many 5 star hotels I've been in. I liked the way they served the breakfast on a plate in a neat creative way rather than just piles and the pizzas are to die for. A must to try in the evening is a Calzone cooked in an original stone oven... it was massive and it took me all my time to finish it but it was well worth it. There's also a small bar in the dining area. Being able to use it as a restaurant in the evening makes it a lot easier if you just want to get a meal rather than have to look around for somewhere to eat. I think a lot of work has been put into it and they have raised the bar high to beat for a budget hotel. It was much more intimate and personal than the big hotels and they were more willing to help.
