A super old "schloss" Hotel in lovely gardens near Cheb.
The rooms are very good for the Price.you get what you pay for.
Beer garden by the fountain,in the gardens in front of the "schloss"...romantic.
Good for Walking and bike adventures.
A good Change from normal City Hotels.
Come again.....YES

A friend and I stayed for one night.  I have not seen anything wrong with the place.  The whole idea of staying in castle was amazing to me.  We had dinner and the service was great!  If you want to see good living with good service this is the place to stay.  There are wonderful walking trails if this is the kind of thing you would like to do.  The place is many many years old of course you will see the affects of the place.  Many people have made negative comments but I believe if you are the type that love traveling visiting castles, this is a must see as well.

My stay was nice!

schlosshotel in lovely gardens

I got the voucher for spending here a romantic weekend as present, so I had not chosen this hotel by myself. It should include accom., bfst+dinner, some procedures, etc. Overall we were quite disappointed, mainly because of the reality which was different than the expectations we had and what was guaranteed. 

First surprise- our room was not in the main building of the Castle but in separated renovated "Hotel Mlýn", we still hoped that it will look like a castle chamber or something...it did not. It was standard room, but we very appreciated that it was large and pleasantly cold (outside was around 28°C). Worst thing was the bed - you are coming for having a romantic weekend as a couple and you get twin beds with no possibility to make it as double bed, unfortunately we didn´t get any help at reception, it was told us that the hotel is full so they can only put something into the hole, but it would not change anything. Bathroom was OK, TV signal terrible, WiFi not available, only in the main building (they told us at reception that it is an outage due to yesterday´s storm, but the site was not even visible all the time). 

Then we went to enjoy the first of two procedures, it is located at -1 floor and it smelling there of mold.. There is one room with four massage tables and other wellness equipment. Terrible is that there is only some local radio playing, no relax music, etc. You can choose from four combinations - we took the classic massage of neck and back and it was really good. The lady - Markéta (I´m not sure about the name:/) was very nice and recommended us many places to go, thanks to her, at least one of the stars is her! 

Swimming pool area is very good, steam room and sauna were not running, but you can ask for it and the staff will turn it on; anyway we only enjoyed the swimming pool. 

FnB - poor...we supposed to have some special three and four course dinners but there was nothing special, same meal for everybody, even for the staff..again - probably just our expectations were higher thanks to the description on the voucher..

Tables outside were often full of used dishes, the garden could be better maintained, especially behind the "Mlýn", such a shame..

Definitely GREAT LOCATION: walking distance - Nebanice (large horse farm), spring Anita (excellent mineral water), brewery at Kynšperk nad Ohří (perfect beer! - 4,5km to get there but we went there both evenings), by car - cities Cheb and Františkovy lázně (spa), both approx. 15 mns by car. 

In overall the hotel seems nice, it must be charming before but now it is not in a good condition. I hope that this hotel will get maybe some new owner who will invest some money to make this place better..

Disappointment...

My wife and me bought a "Romantic Package", including 3 nights stay, massages and wellness procedures, breakfasts and dinners. The difference between our expectations (based on package description and attached photos) and reality was huge.
From outside the hotel looks nice. It is surrounded by a park, which was clean and maintained. The entrance hall is beautiful. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about our room. IT was tiny, dirty walls, tiles in the bathroom were broken, shower holder was broken, lamp by the bed was broken, shower did not drain. Walls are like made from paper, so you can hear absolutely everything from the hallway or surrounding rooms. 
Hotel restaurant looks very nice, but cuisine is nothing special. The meals are really simple. Not bad, but noting to admire. During breakfast they played loud rap "music" ... this is really something you "want to hear" during your breakfast in a historical palace.
Hotel wellness - this was the biggest disaster. It is just one room in the cellar where they have 4 massage tables, separated just by a blanket. During your massage you can hear the others and when others leave, they can see you naked as they pass you. It looks more like a field hospital from some war movie, rather then a hotel wellness. Never more!

Big Dissapointment

We visited for lunch while staying in the area. The chateau style hotel looks very pleasant if unpretentious in detail from the outside. We asked if lunch was available and were gestured to the simple restaurant where a few others were seated. After 10 minutes waiting we had to ask for a menu, which comprised a basic selection. The staff were hardly rushed off their feet, and language was not a barrier since we spoke German (2nd language in area) in our 2 brief interactions although it was obvious we were English speakers and we heard the staff speaking both to others in their occasional forays into the dining room. After another 15 min of utter inattention, a waitress moved past other tables and pointedly ignored us. That was enough! This is the first restaurant we can remember ever walking out of, which was a great shame. Personally I would not risk staying anywhere with such an appalling attitude to any guest. Beware!
