Penzion Zikmundov

One of the most beautiful and cozy places i have ever seen. Food was awesome! Hotel is in the middle of knowhere which is the best part :D Nice and cozy wine cellar, spa and BMW i3 for rent (included in the price for room)

Wanna spend few days in the middle of nature in this amazing and beautiful hotel? This is the place for you! Once you park you will be in quiet paradise, no stress at all. Great staff will help you relax, chef will prepare anything you want or with the fresh or seasonal ingredients he has that day. And you can enjoy yourself. Definitely must visit place 

We were greeted warmly and felt from the beginning that the host aimed at making the Penzion a home for us. "Help yourselves with wine from the fridge, should I not be here", was one of the things that made this place look casual but welcoming. Excellent wine, good food and easy going people. You'll feel free to enjoy, not being bothered by constant service proposals. 

Zikmundov has two sides one before you enter - old building next to, next to the pool as well and the other when you enter. Interier is nice, also the room. We loved the outside whirlpool under the stars with wine. Glass wine is for 350 Kč per bottle, that ok for this kind of place, beer 1/3 for 40 Kč :), other wines (bottle wines) stars at 690 Kč..not soo good. The food was really delicious and wine was very good also, we really enjoyed this. It is totally different experience - no reception, no time, no schedule...really good for one night with your loved ones party in hot-tube and have a great dinner , for other days I dont know what to do there really.

This place is heaven 

Fun for one night

Less service is more service

My dream place! 

We bookend this penzion as a last place of our very busy holiday around the Czech republic. For two weeks we slept in a tent and were looking forward to this unique treat in the middle of nowhere. Well unique is what this place truly is and has a great potential too. The location is what you want if you seek relax in the countryside. It's very few rooms could make us feel relaxed if it weren't for all the noise from the corridors (but that's what you have to expect from a wooden construction i guess). 
The girl who was in charge that weekend was a real gem, this is what they should focus on, pleasant service. She was kind and helpful but not in a pushy kind of way. 
Dinner prepared by a creative chef was custom made so everyone can expect top quality dinner based on their special requirements.
What ruined the slow moving pleasant experience was the breakfast. Well not the meal itself but the commotion around during our breakfast time. Despite the fact they ensure you that you can sleep in and come anytime this wasn't the case when we were over. We came around 9:30 (not being the last people to arrive by far). Very shortly after that arrived owner (or whoever that was) with a bunch of delivery men and started to replace old fridge with a new one. This required a lot of shuffling, hoovering and other loud disruption to our perfect to be morning. The fact that you are sitting in the kitchen itself which was so appreciated the night before was gone at once. Nobody even thought about apologising or any word towards the customers at all. This for us was and absolute shock and let down and ruined our stay altogether.

A great let down

We were deciding for a long time whether to write a review, but we must. The way Zikmundov presents itself on the website and social media is very far from reality. When you arrive, you step out of your car next to horse manure from stables that are in close proximity to the accommodation, practically stuck right next to it. So, if you want to enjoy some time by the pool, not only do you have nowhere to lie down since there are only 4 sun loungers, which isn't enough at full capacity, and you don't want to lie on the grass where there are uncleaned droppings from who knows what, you also get a view of tractors carrying manure and stable employees. They market themselves as a perfect place where you're afforded maximum privacy and intimacy, but again, if you don't want to lock yourself in a small, stuffy room, you have nowhere to go. A trip to Buchlov, 30 minutes away by car, is about the only option. At full capacity, you essentially have nowhere to hide, no place to retreat, with overly curious other guests inquiring about your life. We really don't need that when we drive 4 hours for a private weekend getaway. Dinner was really great, yes, the staff was very kind, but cutting our fruit with the same hands they just smoked cigarettes with, which were quite smelly, was a bit too much for us. Breakfast was standard, but good. The room was smaller, nice & clean, however, the beds were separate, and one mattress was so worn out that it needs to be replaced.

A little dissapointing

this started as a very nice place, but over the years has gone down on standards of service. For "london type" prices you would expect decent level of service -  none of that. Arrogant management,  our room was not available and we were without any  compensation placed in what would ordinarily be a cupboard. Awful experience - never more.
