Spent a family weekend and can't say how great weekend it was. Thank you hotel team to make our stay so comfortable and relaxing. Food was an excellent - little bit limited selection for kids (5 & 9) - but tasty and fresh.

This is our first experience with this hotel but definitely not the last one. We were so happy there that it is even hard to express our thanks to those wonderful people who took care of us. The receptionist, the waiters, the chambermaid -all were so nice and helpful. The room was comfortable, very clean. The service perfect. The restaurant is cozy and the cuisine -excellent!!! We are just sorry we didn´t manage to taste all the delicious meals on the menu. Thanks to the chef and his staff!!! The offer of wine was also great -nice to sit there in the evening after a day out -cross country skiing was great too. I can´t remember to feel so good and welcome as in this wonderful hotel. 
Strávili jsme v Klostermannově chatě pět dní a budeme na ně dlouho vzpomínat. Hotel je nejen velmi citlivě zrekonstruován a působí útulně a příjemně -pokoj jsme měli velmi pohodlný, perfektně čistý a restaurace je rovněž útulná, ale hlavně v něm pracují velmi milí lidé. Už dlouho jsme se nesetkali s tak milým přístupem k hostům- od recepční, přes ty, kdo nás obsluhovali v restauraci až po pokojskou. Kuchyně je zde opravdu výjimečná, nabídka velmi zajímavá a kvalita fantastická. Můžeme jen litovat, že jsme nestihli ochutnat všechno, ale jehněčí kolínko nebo candát se švestkovou omáčkou...zážitek. Nabídka vín rovněž široká a kvalitní. Navíc fundovaná doporučení od obsluhujícího číšníka. Bylo velmi příjemné si večer posedět po výletu na běžkách. Děkujeme a těšíme se na příští návštěvu.

If you want to skip from the city and just enjoy nature, silence, fresh air, green forests and comfort of the locality,visit South Bohemia, Czech Republic. Modrava is a small village just few km from the German borders. At this place a cottage has been originally built in 1924 by the Czechoslovak Tourist  Club and got its name after a writer  Karel Klostermann who devoted all his work to Sumava mountains and its beauty. Nowadays the Klostermann lodge is open to the tourists and its a great place to start your trips (hiking, biking, cross-country skiing etc.). Accommodation is modest but comfortable, staff very friendly. Sauna, bowling, billiards is available. When we were leaving in November, new rope centre was about to finish. Wifi is available free of charge in whole lodge.  Ideal place for small conferences or training.

After trying several hotels in Šumava area some years ago, we are returning to this one as we consider it the best. We stayed there several times and were always happy. The hotel is situated at the heart of Šumava at the edge of Modrava village, from where one can start several trips by walk or bicycle. The hotel itself is old building very nicely build in mountain style architecture and inside completely renovated ten years ago. It is very kinder friendly, completely nonsmoking. Pets are allowed. Wi-fi is for free with good signal at the whole hotel. The hotel staff was always trying to fulfill all of our wishes (even that nonspoken). The hotel manager is really doing fantastic job. 
The rooms are neat and clean with wooden furniture, fridge and clothes dryer. Toilet separated from bathroom. The only one thing I miss at the room is a safe box.
The breakfast is reasonable. Not that variety of choices as used to be in luxury hotels, but it changes every day, therefore it is not an issue. The restaurant serves fantastic food. One can eat either on terrace with nice view or inside the stylish restaurant. 
The only minus is bicycle room as it is too small for the amount of guests bicycles. I am always afraid my one will be damaged. And it is not possible to lock one’s bicycle individually – all are in one room (all guests have keys from it) and there is nothing fixed in the room where one can his bicycle lock to. 
We are looking forward for our next stay.

Perfect location and wonderful nature. The service in the hotel is very nice, the food was great, but it took very long time in the restaurant from time of order to food delivery (sometimes even longer than 60 mins). All the kitchen personnel is new this year and they need to improve as it got worse compared to last year, but we hope they will fix it. And If not, the accommodation is still fine and there are options to eat elsewhere in Modrava.

This place came recommended, and we weren't disappointed by the location or friendly, professional service. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a lovely view of the surrounding mountains. 

We had Kulajda Soup, Lamb Ragu and Goat Cheese Salad. The potatoes in the soup could have perhaps been cooked a little bit longer, otherwise the soup was very good. Although the service was otherwise impeccable, our main dishes were in fact brought out before we had finished our soup. 

The espresso coffee is very good and worth trying. Instead of sugar, you are served a little container of a caramel-like substance which is delicious, in or out of your espresso.

Will probably visit again if in the area.
