The Manta apartment is lovely, with two spacious bedrooms, terracotta tiled baths and a shaded yard with lounge chairs and private stairs down to reefs full of fish and corals. This apartment shows attention to design, providing comfort and privacy, with attention to the environment. The covered patio has a dining table looking out over turquoise water toward the sunset. 
While there, I injured my left knee and could not walk without pain. I am extremely grateful to the owner, Liz, who drove to town to buy me crutches. She checked to be sure I had what I needed and even brought me a menthol salve. 
Sun Reef is a beautiful place with kind and caring owners. 

Beautiful apartment

Was soll ich sagen. Wir waren das erste Mal auf Curacao und es wahr wohl unser schönster Urlaub überhaupt. Einen sehr, sehr großen anteil daran hat das Sun Reef. Hier stimmt einfach alles. Betonen möchte ich vor allem die Freundlichkeit, die Sauberkeit, die wahnsinnig tollen und geschmackvoll eingerichteten Unterkünfte, die bequemen Betten... usw. !!! Es gibt hier keine negativen Dinge. Alles ist einfach lobenswert, aber das Beste ist die Aussicht mit Palmen auf das Meer. Auch die angeschlossene Tauchbasis läßt keine Wünsche offen. Wir kommen zu 100% wieder.

What can I say. We were on Curacao for the first time and it was probably our best vacation ever. The Sun Reef has a very, very big part in it. Everything is just right here. Above all, I would like to emphasize the friendliness, the cleanliness, the incredibly great and tastefully furnished accommodation, the comfortable beds... etc. !!! There are no negative things here. Everything is simply praiseworthy, but the best thing is the view with palm trees on the sea. The attached dive center leaves nothing to be desired. We will 100% be back.

Traumhafter Urlaub - Dream Holiday

Sun Reef Village was paradise. Travelled with my husband and two teenage kids after Christmas for 11 nights. We stayed in the Flintstone oceanfront house, a few doors from the resort. Views were spectacular and privacy serene. All we could hear was the waves and birds in the front garden. Enjoyed sunsets from the terrace and snorkeling at our doorstep.

Can’t say enough good things about our hosts, Lies and Wim. They were helpful, warm and kind. Lots of good tips on shopping and local restaurants and beaches down the street from us .. all within walking distance!

Paradise in Curacao at Sun Reef

Spent a week in the Dolphin Bungalow. Nice, quiet property with excellent views of water from the Bungalows outdoor areas. The owners were friendly and welcoming. 
We seemed to be the only non divers staying at Sun Reef during our stay. We enjoyed a relaxing week exploring the island.
Pros, Amazing views from several outdoor sitting areas.
 Easy private water entry from our bungalow. 
Convenience of car rental through Sun Reef Villages. 
Air conditioning in bedrooms.
Cons. If no breeze present bungalow inside and out can feel extremely hot. Mosquitos were very prevalent entire stay from morning to night.
The reef in front of the Sun Reef is in its early stages of development and not much to see from a snorkelers view.
Shower water pressure minimal.

Beautiful views

We have been staying at Sun Reef Village since 2002, at which point, there was an absentee owner and the place was a bit of a wreck. The current owners, Wim and Lies, took over in 2004 and they have been making vast improvements ever since.
   The “village” consists of ten bungalows, five of which are situated on a cliff above the crystal clear Caribbean waters. The other five are situated within the property’s gardens. The waterfront units feature ladders to access the sea and there are also communal decks with ladders so that those people with a garden unit can also enjoy a swim. The units range from one, two or three bedrooms and all are equipped with full kitchens. Each bungalow has an alarm system and the village itself sits behind a high wall, making security a non-issue. The owners have a number of cars that you may rent from them and there is a parking lot in which you may park their rental car. Should you decide to rent a car at the airport, Sun Reef will not guarantee that you’ll have a spot in their lot, as their cars have first priority.
   The prices are very reasonable, considering that you are visiting a tourist destination. And there are benefits to be enjoyed here that no Marriott and few other vacation rentals will afford you. The peace and quiet of this place, the serenity, cannot be overstated. The loveliness is very nearly impossible to put into words. And your hosts, Wim and Lies, are extremely nice people, who will do everything in their power to make sure that you enjoy a wonderful stay with them.
   We just finished a three-week visit to Sun Reef and we had a fabulous time. The issue with Covid felt like  it was non-existent, as the island is very safe right now, with an incredibly low number of cases. We were able to freely go everywhere on the island without a mask, except for the grocery store, and that is a tremendous feeling these days. We urge everyone who is looking to enjoy a safe and relaxing vacation to try a stay at Sun Reef Village. You definitely will not be disappointed!

A little piece of Heaven here on Earth

We stayed here for 2 weeks and loved it!  We were a family of 8, including 3 seniors and 2 kids so we rented an oceanfront bungalow in the main complex and an oceanfront house.  The older folks stayed in the 2 bedroom snapper and it was perfect for them.  The rest of us were in the house.  We stayed in both the Grouper and the Tarpon (a week in each). Both were clean and comfy but the Tarpon is definitely worth the extra cost.  Nicer kitchen with a dishwasher and a washer (grouper doesn't have either), a better layout (2 ocean view bedrooms instead of 1) and a great deck that hangs out over the water.  

Great Location.  Mid way between the best beaches on the west end and close enough to Willamstad for sightseeing, shopping, and dining out.  There is a market within walking distance that was well stocked and a short drive to grocery stores.  There is a restaurant and a small local beach within walking distance.

There is a dive shop on site  and good diving and snorkeling directly in front of the main complex. 

The hotel also offers car rentals from their own fleet and we highly recommend that.  Their fees were the best we found, and vehicles were clean and in good condition.  They are also set up for hauling diving tanks.  

We would definitely recommend this hotel.  However access to the water is by ladder or jumping off the lower cliffs if you are brave enough.  You still have to climb back up by ladder so not an ideal choice for those with mobility issues or very young kids.  
 



Loved our stay!

Great resort, comfortable and quiet. Nice accommodation, very comfortable beds, spacious room Dradu (Dorado with view on parking lot and dive centre). Good entrance to the sea and nice reef, you can go also for night dives, or just for swim. Corals, fish and macro life on the reef. Nice garden with parrot :-) Very good as a "All in one" resort with accommodation, dive centre, house reef, car hire and parking in one place. Five minutes by car to a big supermarket with ATM and five minutes by car to a great beach Kokomo. Good sleeping, very comfortable and spacious beds, but lots of mosquitoes during night. Very good staff. Small tropical paradise, great for scuba divers. Highly recommended!

Great resort, comfortable and quiet, perfect scuba diving

We stayed at sun reef village for 2 nights and had an excellent time. If you're into boutique places with a little charm look no further (sorry this is not a resort/all inclusive place). Where do I start, amazing snorkeling/diving right off the property, wonderful owners, the birds, iguanas/ other wildlife, the quietness (it's close to the city but not too choose). This is truly a magical place. Also every day there was an epic sunset (advantage of West facing rooms). 

Excellent coastal villas

My husband and I spent three nights at the oceanfront Dolphin Bungalow at Sun Reef. It was absolutely beautiful, the pictures provided on the website were perfectly accurate and the space somehow was even more beautiful than expected. The bungalow was clean, comfortable and luxurious with mosquito nets, great hot showers and a full service kitchen (warning though, there were many mosquitos so bring your bug sprays and creams. They did provide electric zappers). They also had a little grill outside which we used every night, eating by the sunset. We loved especially being able to jump into the ocean at any moment with a ladder leading straight off our bungalow into the water. I also loved watching the families of birds each morning prepare their nests and breakfasts, there are parrots and doves and many others flying around throughout the day. Sun Reef also has their own very friendly talking parrot greeting all who pass through the common area which was amazing, plus an adorable little cat who spends his days sunbathing in the parking lot. We had an amazing time here and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a private, quiet space perfectly located between city attractions and the gorgeous West coast beaches (short and pretty 35-40 min drive to the farthest beach, definitely need to rent a car when visiting Curacao) and most specially, with direct ocean access.

Loved Sun Reef Village!

This place is AMAZING, peaceful, breathtaking.... We had an unforgettable stay, it is really a beautiful and dreamy  location. Thank you so much Lisbeth for being such a wonderful and kind host. I hope we will come back one day!
