We were there for a family reunion with relatives from Amsterdam, us from the states. You will need a rental car to get around since it is not within walking of restaurants or stores. Clean, private gated grounds. Bedroom area only air conditioned and June was a bit hot. Pool area clean, BBQ area nice and easy to use. Owners are friendly and helpful offering diving, car rental, airport pick up and return. Driving to local beaches, stores and restaurants within minutes. About 20 minutes from the harbor and downtown area. Very relaxing to sit on the patio after a day at the local beaches. Highly recommend a stay here

Visiting with Family

Curacao, a great place for diving. As the partment is a bit remote I recommend a rental car. If you are a diver you' ll need that for your equipment anyway. The pool is great and the whole facility is very clean.

Big apartment for an affordable price.

Great location in a residential neighborhood, just a few minutes drive to Blue Bay and Kokomo beaches, grocery store.  Short drive to Willemstad and slightly longer drives to other beaches, Christoffel park and other destinations.  Cornelis and Will are friendly and helpful and keep the apartments clean, modern, well maintained and secure.  Ban Topa would be a bargain at twice the price.  Nice to sit on the patio in the evening and see the city lights and the stars in the sky.  Large doors from the patio to kitchen/living room let the air in and made the spacious apartment seem even bigger.  The owners very helpful with suggestions on what to see and do, and even printed suggested day trips in a binder.  Very helpful to group together activities that are near each other.  A car is needed, but driving is far less stressful than most US cities.

Wonderful value!  Quality apartment at budget price.

We recently stayed at BanTopa for 9 nights on our first trip to Curaçao. The apartments are located in a more residential neighbourhood, but not far from Otrabanda (we would still drive there for dinner, about 15 mins away), very close to a supermarket, and easy to get to the road to Westpunt and all the beaches up the coast.  I was a little curious of what the apartment would be like because it was so affordable, but it was exactly as pictured and exactly as we thought it would be when we arrived. The apartment and grounds were very clean and secure and I wish we had saved more time just to relax on our patio or by the pool. There is air conditioning in the bedroom which we used at night, otherwise you just let the breeze cool down the apartment. There is also a mosquito net over the bed. We saw a few mosquitoes on Curaçao, but not nearly as many as other destinations I've been to. 

Our electric/ water bill was what we expected at the end of our trip. We tried to conserve where possible but by the end of our stay we were more generous with water and aircon than when we arrived.

Our flight from Miami to Curaçao (flying Insel, not recommended) was very very late leaving and meant that we arrived after midnight instead of at 6pm. With our car rental agency already closed, we took a Taxi who got us very lost but Cornelis and his wife kindly stayed up late until we arrived, which helped take a bit of stress out of our chaotic vacation arrival. The next morning, Cornelis brought over a map and taught us a bit about the island, recommended some beaches and spots to avoid and got us off to a great start for exploring. We met a few of our neighbours and the whole place had a very friendly feel. We wish we could have had a BBQ with them or something! 

When staying at BanTopa, you'll want to rent a car as it's not quite walking distance to many beaches. However, you're in a great spot to explore a new one every day. It's a good option if you're planning to cook or BBQ on your trip to save money. We went to restaurants most nights, but in retrospect it would have been more relaxing to use the BBQ at BanTopa and enjoy the grounds a little more in the evenings.  

Highly recommended if you're looking for an affordable self-catering apartment-style accommodation on your vacation. Really great value!

Loved our 1 bedroom apartment

Although the layout of the apartments is okay, the location however frequently suffers from the exhausts of the Isla refinery. Also the location is far away from the city and all landmarks of Curacao. It boasts 6 dive schools, but only if you have a car!
A small pool is present, but it is small... 
The apartment is graciously cleaned every 7th day.... Duh! If you go to the beach daily the amount of sand and salt starts piling after two days. Can you imagine seven days? There's no broom or vacuum to clean up...
Biggest disillusion though was the total disinterest of the owner. They are in it for the money (who isn't) and they are not even trying to offer any service. Our arrival was mentioned to a friend offering a jeep tour, who introduced himself uninvited.
To give you an idea, we vacated the apartment midway our holiday to go to another location. Strange? The owner did not even ask... so much for caring for your clients.
Cherry on top is, you have to pay for the electricity and water used. Electricity only a few cents per kWh, water 16,75 Antillean guile per 1000 liters and guess what: it's always at least a 1000 liter (unit of measurement).

Do not go here!

The Apartments are not in Willemstad but a 5 minute drive from Willemstad. There is a huge supermarket nearby (Centrum) and it is also like a 5 minute drive from the airport. There are 3 beaches nearby Kokomo, Bluebay and Boca Sami (local beach) and you will be in 15-30 minutes near the beautiful beaches of the western side. At Boca Sami is a nice local and cheap restaurant Octopus. Nearby on the road to kokomo you can spot plenty of flamingos and many hiking trails are nearby. 
The apartments themselves are nice. Very clean, very modern, furniture is new, Airco, Free wifi and cable tv (although I dont spend much time in the apartments when I am on holiday) they have a nice pool to swim. there is a special BBQ area near the Swimmingpool. Very unusual for a small apartment complex is that they have an office on the premises which is open from 8-5. Kitchen is good for cooking. They have a jug to lend out and a hammock. You can park your car on the premises (like almost all hotels in Curacao you better rent a car to enjoy the island better). The friendly owners have plenty of advise where to go and when to go.Price wise this was a very good deal! I will return to Ban Topa!
