Apartments Kahlina

You can belive me: when I plan a trip, it can be a few days or a week, or longer, I search very carefully, and a LOT, to choose the perfect one. When looking for an accomodation in Zagreb for my partner and me, I went through on countless hotels, pensions, apartman, when finally I had the "this is it" feeling, and I was sure, that I want the Khalina apartman. When waiting for the date to arrive, every day I was searching on the net, if find some new photos, new reviews - not much to find. So here's a new one from me. We arrived by car, and the navigation was useful, as Zagreb is a big city with its 800 thousand (yes!) inhabitants. The house is on a living area, villas, and I could say, it's a very pleasant, and quiet place, but...on the opposite side of the street the house is under contruction, and the workers start their day at 7 a.m... But back to the beginning. In the house there are several apartmans to let, and we found there Marija, Mr Kahlina's, the owner's right hand. She was our help during our stay. She was really helpful, showed us the place, and also handed a map of the city, marked the tram and bus lines can be use to to center, a timetable, and some brochures to see and discover about Zagreb. As we booked with breakfast, she asked, what time we'd like to have it. Until we received on the first morning, I just couldn't imagine, how will it happen, and let me say, I waited for it with excitement (smile). She was accurate. Every morning. Knocked on the door, and we received a huge paper-bag, with hot or cold whole milk, a pot (to the tea or the milk), marmelade, meat variations (a lot!), cheese variations (a lot!), butter, cocoa, instant coffee, tea-bags, juice ...One morning she even made scrambled eggs - arrived hot and fresh, and very delicious - a really pleasant surprise. And the breads...every morning fresh, different ones in the small basket, covered with a clean, white napkin. It was really comfortable to eat there, the empty bag we had to put the front of the door, with the basket, the pot, and the plastic box. And I stayed at many hotels, but this breakfast was like at a 4-star one. We only missed some fruit, or vegetables, but no problem. The bed was bigger than seems on the photos, and personally I was very happy with the many pillows (softer and harder also). The duvets felt like feather-filled, fine, and light. And of course, the mattresses were excellent. I should write about the lights: there are MANY. And many ways to switch up or down, or dim, or light up. Amazing. But the lights come from the windows too. The kitchen is small, but very well equipped, and I really used it. There was a gas cooker, and an electric oven. Some used to say, that don't want to hear about cooking while on holiday - I enjoyed it, every moments, even the cleaning after. In the room was also a big LCD tv, and a SONY media center (radio, CD, MP3), and a very important thing: the free wifi. We arrived on Monday, and Marija came to clean up the apartman on Wednesday. Changed the towels, made the bed, even changed the bathroom rugs. If you come by car, you can park it at the front of the house (no fee), or - as we did - inside. There are many things to do in Zagreb, a fantastic clean and friendly city, where people can really live, I think. The well-organized tram and bus lines, the markets, the cathedral, the beauty of Sljeme over the city, the must-see Mirogoj cemetery...can't get enough, and I finish now, as we left the apartman with a note: THANK YOU. :)
