Apartments Marina

Apartments Marina, Šibenik are the ideal location for exploring Šibenik and the beautiful central Dalmatia region of the Croatian coast. Our effervescent host, Marina made us most welcome and was always willing to offer worthwhile guidance on the local area. Without any unrequested imposition, any questions about the apartment were efficiently dealt with. Marina welcomed us with a bottle of local wine and kindly gifted us some of her friends’ lovely homegrown potatoes. Spacious and comfortable, the two-bedroom apartment on the ground floor more than met our needs. The terrace was lively to sit out at in the evening with candles. Air-con worked fine. The decently equipped kitchen let us have breakfasts, prepare packed lunches, and cook a few evening meals. Bed linen and towels were good quality and fresh. There is a very good washing machine and areas for drying clothes. The pool, terraces and garden area were a great haven for sunbathing and keeping cool. Plenty of loungers, seats, and shaded areas. It was safe and enclosed for young children and kept immaculate by Marina’s son and mother-in-law each day. There wasn’t a nice view from the apartment and some road noise from the street, but the comfort and quality of the apartment and facilities made up for that. There was always a space for our hire car directly outside the apartment. We never used the BBQ, but it looked great. A massive hit for us in the outside area was the high quality bean to cup ground coffee machine, with milk and sugar supplied. There are two decent supermarkets within walking distance, 5 minutes and 15 minutes. Once we found our way about, the walk to the seafront and cafés took about 20 minutes with another 10 to 20 minutes to the main historic and shopping areas in Šibenik. There is a bus stop outside the apartment. A nice half hour walk in an evening is up the hill opposite the apartment to see the sunset over Šibenik and the islands. We stayed for 14 nights, which is probably longer than most people. At the end of August / start of September the main tourist season was coming to an end, and the hot summer had cooled to 30 degrees +/-, which was all good for us. We explored Šibenik and the area every day. To find your way around we strongly recommend the local free guide brochure ‘Šibenik in your pocket’. A beautiful fascinating area with too many lovely highlights to mention. There are apartments in a prettier location, but the quality and facilities in Apartment Marina made it feel like a safe, comfortable home and we couldn’t fault the kind hospitality of the lovely Marina and her family.
