Hvar

Located on the hilltop of hvar, it looks central on a map and might seem „well located“ and close to „Pokonji dol beach“ - the top rated beach in Hvar.

However, the hill is quite steep and also the way down to the beach is literally huge loose rock. Walking down is quite dangerous, and walking uphill makes you really tired in the sun. The host of the apartment also advises you to be careful.

So locationwise its not that good, the best locations in hvar are at the bayfront below the hill, since there is an asphalt road thats further to the beach, but much easier to walk  on and eventually faster!

The apartment itself wasnt really that great, somewhat old furniture etc. The air conditioning was very old and weak, took 3 hours to cool the bedroom. The kitchen cant be used without having smell in the whole apartment, since we had no openable window. The kitchen utensils are probably 30 years old and totally overused (pans etc).
Also the wifi wasnt really working properly.

However, the host is very friendly, offered free beers and also lets you use the stone oven on the terasse, which is beautiful to sit on.
So you better grill outside and not use the kitchen.

Overall we enjoyed our stay here, its clean, but thats about it.

Okay, clean room, old kitchen

I stayed here 4 nights with my boyfriend during our stay in Hvar and we were very satisfied. Mr. Divkovic was very kind and generous, he even came to pick us up as soon as we arrived in Hvar and one morning he accompanied us to the center since he had to go there. The first day he offered us fresh drinks and the second day a nice espresso. The apartment is spacious, clean and the bed is huge and very comfortable. The shower is also really comfortable and spacious. Outside there is a porch with a table and a BBQ to cook. One night we actually ate out.

It's very good.

We booked this apartment thinking as it was costing a bit more than usual it would be better than what we could get for cheaper... We booked a room with a balcony and arrived to find we were on the lower ground floor (below street level) and had a side patio that got no sun at all and was not private as there was a small conservatory whose door / windows opened onto the patio, the room got really cold in the morning and we were there at the start of September so it was 25 - 28 degrees! There was also a lot of building work going on at the property. Dikovik did not speak the best English but greeted us kindly, when we arrived & we asked if we might be able to use a washing machine as we had been island hopping for nearly 3 weeks he said that would be fine and his wife would show us, over the next few days we looked for his wife but she didn't seem to be around when we were, the washing machine happened to be in the conservatory that was connected to our patio of which the door was left open and the machine was in working order as it was in use a lot of the time during the mornings, after 3 days of not being able to find Dikovics wife we used it for a load of washing as the door was wide open, washing machine not in use & Dikovic had said it would be fine when we checked in. About 1 hour later we hear his wife going absolutely nuts, screaming, shouting the place down, we went outside and she proceeded to shout at us very aggressively in Croatian saying "Kapoot you have broken", her daughter then came along who did speak English and tried to calm the situation down, they proceeded to carry on shouting at other in their house, it was so loud we could hear everything...  for another 30 mins they argued in which time we went back into our room and started looking for somewhere else to move to as we felt so upset at how she was treating us. But as it was 10pm at night we obviously had to stay and had a very bad rest of our evening and sleep. Long story short the washing machine was not broken and the next morning the wife apologised to us, as we only had another 2 days stay there we decided to stick it out but ensured we spent our time away from the apartment and cancelled a BBQ we had planned to have using the communal BBQ faculties also the main reason we stayed is because Dikovic had ensured we paid him for the whole stay on arrival - which we also found unusual as we have stayed in over 30 different private rooms throughout Croatia and the hosts almost never ask for full payment on arrival but at the check out - This was our holiday and our stay in Hvar was essentially ruined and effected pretty terribly by Dikoviks wife's outburst at us and left myself and my partner upset and feeling very awkward for the rest of our stay. We also did not get the balcony that was shown with the room on booking.com. This apartment is not worth the money they charge and I would never stay here again or recommend anyone else does.

Didnt get the room we had booked & landlady shouted at us

We are a couple that recently stayed in Apartments Divkovic in the 1 bedroom apartment with a balcony.   

We travel a lot and have been to many airbnb and booking.com rooms and homes.  
This apartment was spotless and very clean.  It has all the amenities you need to cook in the kitchen and even came fully stacked with salt, pepper and sugar.  Free wifi is also available.

The bedroom is quite large, and the bed will be one of the most comfortable mattresses you have ever slept on.  It is a therapeutic mattress with a pillow top cushion.   

You get your own private balcony which is large and has sun lounge chairs if you would like to relax on the balcony before going to the city centre and/or nearby beach locations.   

The home is about a 10 minute walk from the city centre, and a 5-10 minute walk to the beach (Depending on what area you would like to go).

There are nearby grocery stores within a few minutes, or a large one "Konzum" which is about a 10 minute walk and next to a soccer field.

The hosts are amazing.  They did everything to make us feel comfortable and offered us on many occasions to join them for lunch.  If the offer is available to you, you should definitely join them as the food was outstanding!

We have heavy backpacks and more to carry, and the hosts willingly offered to give us a lift to the nearby port where you catch the ferry/catamaran for departure.

An exceptionally successful vacation with a super friendly and helpful family in a central location with very great apartments at fair prices.

Hvar is wonderful

We found the house clean and comfortable. We waited a while (about 2 hours) to check in and the warmth is not their strong point. In any case, the apartment has been recently renovated and everything is working fine.

Clean and New Home

We stayed at the Divkovich family's one-room apartments for 5 nights. The owners were very hospitable, when they arrived they invited us to their apartments, where we were offered cool drinks and coffee. The apartments were very clean, comfortable and cozy, the terrace in the inner courtyard, the bathroom with bathroom, the kitchen is well equipped. There is no beautiful view from the window, but at night it is very quiet and no one interferes (in Hvar at night is very noisy).

Mr. and Mrs. Divkovic were exceptionally friendly; their guest apartment was located in a very quiet neighborhood just a ten minute walk from the tourist energy of the marina in Hvar, so for us it was ideal to be able to walk into town for dinner (downhill inbound, uphill on return), but also get away from the gold-plated-yacht-centered nightlife when it was time to get some rest. The modest furnishings weren't brand new, but the bathroom was clean and the bed comfortable, and the price was very reasonable. Their recommendation of Paradies Garden was spot on as a great seafood restaurant without any of the glitz that the wealthy marina crowd seeks.
