Good place close to the Falls. Not very convenient to shower in the morning .. water too cold. Additionally, the cabins have a "cold / white" lightening. Overall, not a very comfortable stay.

We enjoy visiting here.  The weather is chilly and fantastic.  Cabins have a fireplace for a little fire to warm cabin.  Cabins and rustic and well kept.  Grounds are magnificent.  Breakfast is included and with many fantastic options, not just continental and typical.  Will definitely be back.

Awesome Chilly stay

I'm not one to typically leave reviews, but I created this account to leave this one.  My friend and I booked a stay for one night in the two floor house in late July to give us a place to rest after visiting the amazing Poas Volcano. The man at the counter was friendly and quickly got us our room keys and provided info on the area and his restaurant on site.  However, that was where anything positive.  Upon entering the house, it smelled terrible and was full of bugs (mosquitoes/flies) plus there were roaches crawling out of gaps in the ceiling upstairs in the bedrooms. We had to go into town to try to find insect spray and air fresheners, of which we had no luck. Also, the bedrooms were stiflingly hot. With no screens on windows/doors, it was impossible to get any air flow.  We asked the front desk if they could provide any fans, but they had nothing to offer. We then visited a hardware store and actually purchased some screen material to attach to the window to allow us to open them and not let bugs in, but it was too difficult to attach.  Additionally, there were brown spots on the bath towels and hair on/around the toilet. By 6pm, we did not feel safe or comfortable staying and left and drove over an hour in the dark to San Jose, which was less than ideal. I'm quite disappointed as the place would not even give a partial refund, so we had to throw out $133, plus pay another $200 for a new hotel at the last minute. In good faith, I waited 6 weeks to write this review as I tried to get any money back trying to even work with Orbitz and my credit card company but had no luck.

Myriad of issues caused us to leave

The staff was so friendly and helpful! The food was terrific. We did have an issue with the coffee maker not working - they got it replaced right away. We would stay there again.

We stayed in a house with an upstairs bedroom. Downstairs was the living room and the bathroom. The house was spacious and spotless clean. Breakfast was included and was from a menue. The Vulcano Poas is nearby and the restaurant next to Villa Calas was also very good. I can recommend staying here if you want to visit Vulcano Poas or Catarata de la Paz

Highly recommended! This place is a true gem. The setting is STUNNING! We rented the Casa Aurora and we loved the fire place (!) on a chilly mountain night, the balcony, and the small kitchen. The hotel has a great restaurant, excellent helpful staff, and even a beautiful trail system. Worthy of a visit if you go to Poas, or even just as a destination itself.

A variety of accommodations on site. We stayed in a deluxe room (1 queen with a sofa). Stairs to the bedroom (bed only) were a little tight (for +6 ft), but cozy and reasonably priced. Watching the great assortment of hummingbirds was a nice way to relax.
The location of the hotel is convenient to the waterfall gardens and the Poas volcano. 
The real deal here is the restaurant. All around the best food that we had on our trip (also went to the La Fortuna area). The service there (Erick and Faviola especially) was spectacular with great views)!
