As soon as we arrived in Costa Rica we stayed here for one night and in addition to being given the opportunity to choose the room we preferred among all the available rooms, we appreciated the courtesy of all the staff in helping us find a car to rent at a good price, to find the suitcase that arrived late...not to mention the excellent breakfast they served us! Pura vida! It was really the first taste of the hospitality that characterizes Costa Ricans!

What a welcome!

Casa Alfi is well situated just a two minute walk to the city centre.
Our room and ensuite was spotless and extremely comfortable.  We  got used to good service in Costa Riica but the service that we received at Casa Alfi was exceptional.  Lulu and Olga went out of their way to be considerate and helpful, always with a great sense of humour with Alfie himself the perfect host.  Breakfasts are good served in the light, open central area and there is free coffee on tap.  We stopped at Casa Alfie twice during our tour of Costa Rica and I can recommend it to anyone.  When we visit San Jose again it will be our first port of call.

We were three days after a long trip to Costa Rica and Panama and I have to say that it is in an excellent position in the center you can walk everywhere. The furniture of the rooms is essential but everything very clean. Gentle the owner and staff. Ask for a room with street view the other damage on common corridor. The only problem is the noise of the street vendors that starts at 6am but it is due to the poor quality of the infisys. Everything very familiar seems to be staying in your own home.

I've been in Costa Rica for over 8 years and Casa Alfi has been my base. It hasn't changed much, but a little better, cable TV in some rooms and TV in others, still a nice and typical breakfast included to start the day, the location near the National Theatre and the Plaza de la Cultura is exceptional. Across the street, from the School of Ladies, on a walking street, it has shops and soda and restaurants, tourist spots and all nearby. But the best thing about everything he has Alfi. He has something like 60 travelers from around the world, he's a man who appreciates a history and a character as much as II.

We paid $40 for the double room with private bathroom, it's expensive but in Costa Rican prices. Breakfast is included in the price, from 7:00, and served by a kind and efficient lady. Our room was large and bright, the only thing missing is a lot of noise in the street at night...

I'm good.

For the rest: - room without charm, even decayed - no mosquito biter in the bathroom. - the bed was dead, I had a spring coming out of the mattress behind me.

We spent three nights in this hotel at the end of our five-week trip to Costa Rica: its location on a pedestrian street next to the theater is ideal. The rooms arranged around an inner courtyard are I think very quiet, perhaps less those facing the street, and yet... the cleanliness and breakfast service are provided by a charming and efficient lady. The hotel's decor is the result of the owner's years of travel, Alfi, and is of very good taste.

Mr. Alfi's house will remain one of our best memories in Costa Rica thanks to the quality of its hospitality. Moreover, it is ideally located in a quiet street in the city centre, safely and in close proximity to all places to visit. Mr. Alfi is also an excellent cook, if you have the opportunity, I recommend his guest table.
