We had an absolutely wonderful stay here! The property is beautiful and well maintained.   It was walking distance from the beach and several restaurants but away from the street noise.  Juliet and Matt were wondering hosts preparing delicious breakfasts and offering great local knowledge.  We look forward to our next visit. 

Beautiful property with great hosts

Loved everything.   Location,  facility, hosts, breakfast.  Pancakes 11 out of 10!.So helpful arranging passport run to Panama.....bocus del Toro.   Fantastic!!

Lovely accommodation - tasty breakfast to start the day and Juliet was very helpful with recommendations and ensuring we had required info to be able to get around (taxi, restaurants etc) and be comfortable! 

3 night stay

A very kind welcome.  A well maintained hotel.  A heavenly atmosphere in the garden.  The kind hotel owner helped us take care of personal matters, advised us on trips in the area, helped us above and beyond the usual.  We felt like family.

Paradise

We couldn’t fault our stay here at Physis. Juliet and Matt were excellent hosts, they made us feel really welcome and gave us some fantastic recommendations for the local area, even when it was raining! The room was comfortable and clean and the gardens are so pretty and well maintained. The breakfasts were excellent too! This stay in Puerto Viejo was the first stop on our Costa Rica tour and was the perfect introduction to the country. We were sad to leave! 

Excellent accommodation and perfect hosts!

We stayed here for 9 days in October 2022. This B&B was nice, the breakfast good and substantial (cereals-eggs-fruit) and the host very helpful and friendly. It is located south of the centre of Puerto Viejo. Sometimes we cycled to the centre (10-15 minutes) and sometimes we took the car in (5 minutes) and once or twice we used a tuk-tuk (around £3). The centre seemed somewhat overly-lively at the weekend, we preferred staying just outside. The property is about 50 metres off the coastal road, where there are 2 supermarkets. The best beaches are in this area and further south (all accessible with a cycle ride, didn’t use the car much for the beach, more for inland trips). There was a sloth lived in the hedge by the property. He would be foraging at night but would return to sleep in the day. The local bike hire was Cyclo Cocles (maybe 200m away, very good) and we hired a car from the town centre (Alamo, also very good). The best National Park was Cahuita (best entrance is from Cahuita itself) which is north of the town, so you need a car or taxi. We saw monkeys, possums etc just wandering about, without a guide. We have now been to Puerto Viejo twice (stayed at the excellent but more expensive Banana Azul the first time), so probably won’t go again but if we did we would come back to Physis without hesitation.

Very nice B&B in a good location

We couldn't have been happier with this perfect little gem!  We found the location great- within walking distance to the beach and close to some restaurants and markets.  The hosts were fantastic - so helpful with recommendations and local information.   Breakfast was tasty and the place had a beautiful garden.  

Amazingly helpful host and lovely garden atmosphere

Had a fabulous 4 night stay at Physis. It is very cute and the owners (Juliet and Matt) were absolutely terrific in recommending activities and restaurants. Make sure you take advantage of their expertise.  Highly recommended - wish we could have stayed longer.

Sad we had to leave

I’ve been to Costa Rica a dozen times…and I’ve been to the Atlantic side enough times to offer you an educated assessment of Hotel Physis.  I absolutely adore this boutique hotel.  The rooms are super comfy and safe, the common areas are elegant, quiet, filled w flora, birds and delightful dart frogs.  The breakfasts are scrumptious, and the owners have anticipated all the needs that their guests might have, from great bikes, outdoor rinse areas, to expert advice.  There’s easy parking and excellent restaurants all around.  And you are located along the stretch of the easily accessed best beaches around.  The owners will ensure your vacation is excellent.  There is always someone available to take your call, answer your question, and connect you with whatever you might need.  And it’s very affordable.
Is my title a mere boast?  While  I have not stayed everywhere there is to stay along this beautiful coastline, I know the “great thing” when I’ve experienced it…and this is a super great place!!!  You will not regret deciding to stay at Hotel Physis!!
