Thank you for a great experience! Rooms are clean, inexpensive and overlooking the ocean. Owner was extremely helpful, and happy to store my luggage while in Corcovado. I'd definitely recommend Jade Mar to others.

We had a cabina set way back from the road and even though it’s “in town” it was quiet, except for the birds and monkeys. There was a view of the sea on our deck. We had AC, a fridge in the room, access to a kitchen and the staff, Marta, etc. were very nice and accommodating. WiFi available by the front office and restaurants and shops right there. Good value for the price!

Jade Mar was a great place to stay for my 3 week trip to Drake Bay. My main interest was to have a room I could use as a home base for hiking the coastal trail and nearby public roads. Jade Mar is right in the middle the small town and close to restaurants and the two small grocery stores. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I had one of the small cabinas towards the back of the property with a view of the water. This cabina had a small refrigerator and full size bed. There was no air conditioning and no glass on the wrap around windows, only screens, but the wall-mounted fan helped for the hottest parts of day. The small bathroom had a shower, sink and toilet. The sink was very small and had very limited space for placing toothbrush, shaving supplies and stuff needed for contact lenses. A couple of simple shelves on the walls would be really helpful. I had to store stuff in the main room and move stuff back and forth. The room and the the sheets and towels were all clean, and the bed was very comfortable. From the covered deck I could watch the Scarlet Macaws that visited the nearby almond tree almost every day. I saw 3 different types of humming birds feeding on the flowering hedge only a few feet from the deck. Every couple of days a troop of Capuchin monkeys would travel across the property and over the roofs of the cabinas.  Toucans visited a couple times. My only complaint, which was not the fault of Jade Mar, was the noise of the town at night. The motorcycles, barking dogs, and the blaring music from a nearby bar were all very noisy, but luckily I had my noise canceling ear buds with me that I had to use every night to sleep. The owners helped me arrange a guided trip to Corcovado NP and the taxi I needed to get back to the air strip when I left. It was a great place to stay, and I miss them and the place already.

We missed the boat at Sierpe and were seriously stressed out when we happened to run into Randall the proprietor of this hotel. This dude could not have been nicer or more helpful! He tried to find us another boat and when there were none he set us up with a room at the hotel along with a boat ride there and a couple of much needed rides up and down the hill. The hotel is clean, basic, and a good value. Randall on the other hand is five stars!

Enjoying the stay.  Has the suicide shower heater, AC in my cabin and it works good. Easy access to restaurants & mercados, it’s a good hill climb up from the beach.  Pay cash only $ or Colones. Room is very clean

Excellent Hotel

Clean, good view - from the last cabin on the walk

We booked at the hotel with a cancelation policy . If done within 3 days of the booking a partial refund was promised,
After that they charged for the entire booking. 

About 5 days before we were scheduled to go there our itinerary changed and we contacted the hotel via booking to ask if we could possibly get a refund in total due to unforeseen circumstances.  

The property did not respond and our request was pending .  

Two days before we were scheduled to go there I called the property and told them we were waiting for their decision. The man / owner told me we were charged the entire fee as this was their policy. I told them they had a record of us cancelling before the 3 day penalty and we should at least be partially refunded. 
He just kept repeating like a robot the policy and saying we would be charged in full. I told him that he is a record of when we cancelled and they never got back to us to confirm the cancellation even though it was within our 3 day window. 

We were charged the entire booking. After I hung up the phone suddenly the cabin we booked was now registered as cancelled . So they held our request until it was within the full penalty time and then charged us the full amount 

Just saying- this property handled it unethically and we were falsely charged they did not honour their cancelation policy .

I tried to take it up with booking . Have you ever tried to contact a person from booking.com.? You won’t be able to.

Be wary of this property and good luck using booking.com. It’s a great site until you run into an issue and then there is no one to help resolve if
