Stayed for the 2nd time at La Purruja Lodge. It was another great stay, Only able to stay one night but the room was comfortable and grounds are beautiful. Breakfast was very good. As in our 1st stay we saw @ 40 squirrel monkeys feeding within mere meters. Host were very nice. La Purruja Lodge is a great place to stay for birds and monkeys.

Great stay

The lodge is located in a fantastic tropical park, which also offers an excellent, varied breakfast. The lodge regularly features agotis, occasionally dead-headed buns, and a variety of bird species. The bungalows are simple but well maintained, and contain everything you need - including a ceiling ventilator (thank God there is no air conditioning). The owner Walter and his family are very caring and provide a warm atmosphere. Walter has lived in the area for a long time, knows himself well and can therefore give a lot of valuable tips.

The Paradise

A break in the middle of the forest, comfortable rooms, a balanced breakfast, a magnificent forest view and the animals that arrive for breakfast complement the stay.

Rest Guaranteed

We stayed at the Purrija lodge last November, the structure is nice, clean, nothing is missing...but the real strength is the location where it is located: It's beautiful to have breakfast in the morning surrounded by animals of all kinds, a wonder for the eyes, I recommend it 100%.The owners are very cute and the breakfast is very good.

♪ Deep in nature, wonderful place ♪

Rooms for one or two nights are perfectly sufficient. Nice area. If you're lucky you'll see dead-headed birds, otherwise many beautiful, colorful birds. The owner speaks German and has provided us with a lot of beautiful information!

It's simple and good.

Went here more because it's not located in town, looking for a place that had some birds n animals for our parents. 
Lodge is pretty basic but no matter to us. Squirrel Monkeys everywhere and parents loved them. I liked the spring fed pool, a tad dirty with leaves that could be taken out but refreshing. Walter is a good host. Room basic, ceiling fan and screened windows, should be cool enough to sleep. Internet connection was adequate. Wife n Mom did not like the no hot water shower though. OK saw that on web site so no surprise and refreshing for me. Sleeping, my biggest issue was the truck noise on the nearby road and the dogs barking. Can't do too much about either but annoying! Looking for a nice quiet place to enjoy nature.
Fair price so can't complain too much

Nice Basics

Golfito on the Pacific and Manzanillo on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica are my two favorite coastal places in Costa Rica. In Golfito, since my last stay, we have also been enthusiastic about the Purruja Lodge, where we spent our longest stay during a three-and-a-half-month journey, i.e. six days. The garden alone is a paradise. The abundance of different bird species, regular visits to Agoutis, and occasionally hordes of totenkopfaff, also make the region's rich food supply scarce, and make sure that we have plenty to do with camera-based surveys. The Gulf is a four-and-a-half-mile-long journey through Frontier, which is also possible thanks to the fact that it is not worth much to traveling in a small area, but to the fact that it is not worth much to travel to the border of the country, and that the quality of the buses and buses in the surrounding area is not so great that we can avoid the cost of traveling in the nearest neighbourhood.

First choice and paradise for birdwatches!

Very simple enough for a short stay; delicious typical breakfast; fair to the price! Pretty nature; the only place the owner or manager smokes a lot; it gets annoying. But it's cozy and very clean.

The owner is really really really Nice. We Had an amazing stay here.
We have camp in this huge and really well maintained garden and we have also taken cabins. Both were really great. We have seen some Tucans in the garden, many other birds, the swimming pool is perfect, there is nice place to cook with some hammocks and a pool game. 
A perfect place to stay for one night, one week, one month ^^

AMAZING STAY

The Purruja Lodge is an excellent combination of quality and price, ideal solution for those who want to relax in the silence of the park where it is located and great for departures to all the nearby destinations Puerto Jimenez, Playa Zancudo, Pavones, wild and enchanting places, and the no less important proximity to the border of Paso Canoas to Panama.
