To discover such a hidden gem is a wonderful fate.  Nature in all its pristine glory, there is an invisible natural healing here.  The birds will be singing to you as you have your morning coffee and fresh baked bread,  A trip to one of the 20 waterfalls and a small lagoon of brilliant blue water to remove you from the modern world.  Ginnee points out an anteater clawing at a tree and you fall in love with this spectacular creature.  A jaguar is heard in the distance and you try to pierce the forest with your eyes.  the lunch is the freshest food you have ever eaten and you are already looking forward to dinner, you can feel the love that Erika puts into her cooking.  The farm is busy, Philip on his backhoe and William with his shovel, directing.  The ducks walk by and your heart warms as the ducklings waddle along.  Feel like learning about permaculture, this is the place.  More than a recommendation, this is one to add to your bucket list.

Paradise on mother/Earth

Needed to get away, alone for peace of mind. This was definitely the right choice.
 
I spent 4 glorious days and 3 peaceful nights. I was in the company of strangers treated like a long lost family member. 
Woke up every morning to a bountiful family breakfast..before exploring my surroundings. I must have hiked 20 miles while there....catching glimpses of fleeting tiny monkeys on my journey amidst the beautiful countryside. It was Heaven on Earth. I highly reccomend this hostel and this beautiful family to stay with. You won't regret a moment.

Clearing the mind

I was a little weary bringing my family to such a remote location. My daughters prefer lots of nightlife and dancing with boys. Casa Quijote was not a destination my daughters would have chosen. The trip out there required some patience from my family. There is no direct flight and the trip from San Jose is long and tedious. Whether you rent a car or use taxi's and buses it will require hours on the road so be preparred.

When we arrived all of that frustration melted away. The farm/ranch was absolutely breathtaking. The family that owns and runs Casa Quijote purchased a tremendous amount of land filled with waterfalls rivers and ponds. There is no end to the amount of hiking and discovery of spectacular wildlife. The accommodations are clean and fresh with a wonderful view. My daughters found pleasure in receiving WiFi so they could keep in touch with  their thousands of friends. 

The food was absolutely delicious. Every day they prepared great home cooked dishes. Nothing prepackaged just darn good food. The trip was worth it just for the food.
At the end of the vacation we realized what a great place it was to relax and spend quality time with the family, both theirs and mine. Often I come home from a vacation more exhausted than when i arrived, not this time.

I highly recommend this experience to families, couples and backpackers alike.
