Great location to see the volcán
Needs renovation on rooms, and a better cleaning detailing. More pillows and update the blankets and towels. We received the room with one empty bottle of water left by the previous guest, a couple of holes on the towels.

If you want views this is the hotel for short stays

The place is super nice, good breakfast. the only thing that would add to it is that the pool is temperate and there is a jacuzzi. i add that some sidewalks are very smooth and slippery when it rains, it is dangerous. otherwise excellent. i recommend it.

Big Scam… we made booking at the hotel and our data were stolen and we got scammed.. we tried to contact the hotel many time and they would never respond on email or telephone. so we had to book another hotel.. later this hotel deducted the cost and wouldn’t help us even though we explained them the whole situation with proof. I can just advise you to not book this hotel because there website is not safe and neither will they care about their clients.

Big scam!!!!!!!!!!!

From the first day we had a terrible customer service. We were told that we could arrive at any time without any problems, but when we arrived, the reception was closed and we had to wait almost an hour for our check-in and to change, when they gave us the room, it smelled like urine, the hot water didn't work and there was no toilet paper. The next day we got up early and we were going to perform the activities, arriving only to sleep at the hotel. We realized that there was no hot water and that the cleaning of the room was not available at the first moment.

Pesimo service is a very popular service.

Wonderful views, great location in a lovely town right on the lake with a few basic services and restaurants nearby, and about a 30 minute drive to the main touristy area of La Fortuna (Sky, the main place for canopying is, however, just 10 minutes up the road and there are two good activity centres right by the hotel). 

The hotel itself is pleasant. Certainly not luxury but it works. Rooms are decent, need upgrading/improving in quite a few areas, but do the job. Internet hardly works and we often needed to ask for the hot water to be turned on. Service is a little sloppy in places but effort is made.  A decent enough option which could be really lovely with a bit more work. 3.5 stars would be the most accurate rating.

If returning to the area, I would choose to stay in the El Castillo area again as it is lovely and peaceful place to be.  

Lovely area, decent hotel

We chose this hotel because we wanted to experience something quieter and out of the city of Fortuna, we wanted tranquility and that was what we found, the incredible view, I was fascinated by the location, better than any hotel on the downtown side. The mornings are amazing. The room and facilities are very clean. Despite being many years old, it is well preserved. As a tip, having at least 2 glass jars in the rooms. The warm and attentive staff. us a special attention (he made us feel so happy during breakfast & dinner, good for the owner to have him).

The place is not a pet friendly place, in the attached photos he left them the way the owner treats the puppies, the ridicule of the people we see as our children, and also denotes machismo in his post and a lack of respect for customers.

I had a terrible night and very bad serivce experience. food was ugly too.

The first night was ok, and the view is nice, but the second night there was a lot of noise and they did nothing to stop it.   The service was very very bad.

Bad servide and noisy rooms

So bad I don't really know where to start.  Animal poop all over the beds, mold all over the bathroom and no hot water seems like a good start.  The pictures on this site are a terrible representation of the actual hotel.  Couldn't pay me any amount of money to stay here ever again.  The only redeeming quality is that the staff was nice, except for the manager.  Raul Blanco promised us a refund of about 60% of our money and he never followed through.  He even had the nerve to complain to a tour company about one of their employees who was helping us translate our unhappiness with the hotel.
