A family run establishment. Daughter checked us in, father ran the restaurant, mother in charge of room cleaning etc. Welcoming atmosphere. Gave us recommendations of places to visit. Their restaurant is the best in the area.

Family run and friendly

We stayed one night at this lodge enroute from the Liberia airport to Nicaragua. The lodge features beautiful wood paneling. Our second floor room felt like a bird's nest with wall-to-wall windows opening to the tree tops. The manager was quick to help us line up a taxi for our departure. Wifi worked well. We enjoyed a grilled fish dinner at the restaurant next door complete with a bottle of Chilean wine. The hotel breakfast was generous: eggs, fruit, rice etc. The town surrounding the hotel was very small and we couldn't see much to do. We were told there are beaches a few kilometers away, but we didn't get to them because of limited time. All in all, this hotel offers good value for the price.

Beautiful lodge, good service, remote setting

Exceeded our expectations.  Staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed one night and had very little time.  The owner drove us around (for free) to show us the area in the little time before we had to leave. Thank you.

Nice, family run hotel. Clean rooms, no frills place to stay. Breakfast is included.  Great location with a store and convenient restaurant located on either side of the hotel. Great value for the money.

Great layover en route to Nicaragua.

If you are looking for a beautiful authentic Costa Rica Experience the Santa Elena Lodge is it!  Manuel the owner took my family on a day long adventure to the Santa Rosa National Reserve and the beaches near Cuajiniquil.  His knowledge of the history and wildlife of Costa Rica is unsurpassed!  My seven year old even told him that this was one of the best days of his life.

The service was wonderful and everyone was very nice and professional. The rooms were beautiful and spacious.  The lodge had a very cool feel to it. If I ever stay in the area again I will make sure to stay at this lodge.

Beautiful rooms and amazing customer service

A fantastic place well off the beaten path of resorts and golf courses. The owners' hospitality was great, the breakfasts delicious, and the rooms wonderful. Would definitely come back here. There is a supermarket with cold cerveza conveniently located next door, and on the other side a good restaurant.

A great place!!

I have stayed at Santa Elena Lodge several times.  Manuel Alan and his family are wonderful hosts and the Santa Elena Lodge is a great location for exploring the northern Pacific coast of Guanacaste. This is a real Tico hotel with excellent service and comfortable rooms, and with a nearby restaurant and store for any needs.

Beautiful, small hotel in a quiet town with easy access to amazing beaches.  The manager and his family are warm and very helpful.  Great gift shop full of items made in Costa Rica versus China.  Breakfasts were very nice since it included time with the manager to help make a plan to see the area to its fullest.  Loved the area.
