I went to the hotel looking for a cheap option after a bad experience in another hotel and no money because I was asked for an extra test of coronavirus and that night I didn't consider it in my budget.The hotel is simple and picturesque, very clean and warm, sheets and bathroom impeccable but especially I would like to highlight the hospitality of Mrs. Bruno who offered me food and worried that I wouldn't miss it either on my return home, I left there excited by her empathy and sensitivity.Thank you Yasmiri.

This was a lovely hotel 2 years ago, they are still using the photos from then.  Aldo is not there anymore, the place is really dirty and run down and very disappointing now. Ropey old pale brown bedspreads, room on the right is now an empanada stall so the smell of rancid fat is everywherel     Kitchen is filthy, ants running around.  The railings outside used to be sparkling white, now they are pale black with dirt, very sad. Mould growth in the shower. Used to be a nice cooked breakfast included  now you have to pay for coffee

Management has changed, needs a SWAT team to come in and clean!

I stayed at this hotel in February 2020, the man who hosted us was very friendly and spoke English well. The room was correct, but still soundproofed poorly (as in the whole country). Do not expect to spend a long night resting! The breakfast space is very nice and the breakfast served was good. I recommend this hotel without any problems.

A friendly reception

Our flight arrived late and we had to change hotel at the last hour, we arrived at the Hotel Santamaria, we arrived super late and the guy expected us super kind.

I have to say that it was not my hotel reserved, but when I got back with my flight I had to change the plan so I booked this hotel since the deal was very good we arrived x the night they waited very kindly I explain a little what the town was like for us if we had a space to see it and we went in the morning because it was 7 o'clock we got up early on the subject of going to the office for our rental car I had prepared a breakfast before 7 o'clock our coffee with milk and toast, we offered fruit and something more.

The title comes from the sign above the front door. We very much enjoyed this hotel. Our room itself was large, the private bathroom was divided into a shower room and a toilet/sink room. Compared to US standards, the toilet room is TINY. The beds were comfortable; there was a TV w/ both English and Spanish language channels. There were 2 fans in our room and if we opened the door to the patio, we also got a very nice breeze. We did not have a fridge in our room. Aldo was on duty when we arrived; he was extremely helpful and friendly. The owner (Jorge) is also very friendly and helpful. He is well traveled and is engaging. There is a very nice breakfast area and the breakfast (fresh fruit, coffee, eggs, toast, and juice) was delicious. We found the hotel as we were walking around the first day we were in CR because we saw a sign saying "arts and crafts" - we didn't realize it was a) a hotel or b) the hotel we were staying in the last night of our trip. There are many craft/art pieces, all made in CR, available for sale. There is no hotel parking but one could park on the street (not advised as it is not protected) or in a nearby parking lot which has someone there 24/7. The hotel is within walking distance of many restaurants, parks, churches, and shopping areas. It is a clean, quiet, delightful, quaint LOCAL hotel, not a Marriott/Hyatt/Holiday Inn. I would definitely stay in this hotel again.

Be Nice or Leave

We stayed here the last night we were in Costa Rica and am glad we did.  Aldo, who greeted us when we arrived, was very helpful and friendly.  The rooms were large and well outfitted.  Jorge, the owner, was there in the morning and served us a wonderful breakfast of fresh fruit and eggs and toast.  The decor is full of local artwork and crafts. Would definitely stay there again if we were to return.

The place to stay in Alajuela!

Very nice hotel, close to the airport and the bus terminal for San José, super friendly property and good guide to show you the good restaurants, even accompanied us to a game of the national soccer semi-final... a good living.

Well located

We stayed overnight at the hotel and it highlighted the quality of service and the kindness of the people who offer it.Around the place is quiet and there are places of economical and very rich food.Moreover, the climate is warm.

I found this hotel to be a good value place with friendly staff. Rooms are small and basic but all you need for a short stay. It's very close to the centre of town where there are some decent places to eat and only 5 minutes to the airport. 
If you want all the bells and whistles than this is probably not for you, but if you just want a simple, clean place to sleep then I would recommend this hotel. I've I'm ever back in San Jose and want to be close to the airport then I will definitely stay here again.
