Don't expect the greatest luxuries; but you have the basics for a good stay, with multiple options according to your budget.It has the great advantage that it is on Taganga beach, so you can leave your belongings and go out to enjoy the sea without any problems, as you have it a few steps away.It has a restaurant in the front and highlights the hospitality of the staff, always attentive to collaboration.

Buen hostel at a good price

We booked the hostel 2 months in advance by Booking.com because it offered a discount for the 10 people we were traveling with, private parking and pet accommodation; it is also on the beach front line. Its price is average for a local hostel, and it seemed suitable for enjoying with children. Once we arrived in Taganga, we got the first nasty surprise: the car didn't arrive at the hotel and there was no parking!! After 8:00 p.m. you can park the car in the bar space, once you pick up the beach tables, but it's public space and at 7:00 a.m. we have to get up and take it out to leave it on the public road during the day!! In addition, to get out of the implications of entering the restaurant-bar at the beach, we had to get out of the closet for the last five hours of the night, and we had to look for the last five hours of the night.

With the intention of having our base camp in Taganga to go to the Tayrona Park and surrounding areas, we spent two nights at the Hostel.As far as the quality and price are concerned, it is a pleasant place to rest.It is located a few meters from the beach and Eloisa, its owner, is an attractive person who helped us with any doubts we might have.

A good place to move around Taganga and surroundings.

I was GRANDPAcking in Taganga for 8 nights.
I booked myself into a Triple Room at the Hostel Dumbira for 8 nights at US$14 / night. I took up their US$2 Breakfast option to bring my nightly cost up to US$16.
I chose the Dumbira because it was on the beach.
My room was large and included a Double Bed and a Single Bed and it came with a ceiling fan. You pay a few US$s extra if you want aircon.
There was very little furniture. There was no wardrobe … so, out came my washing line again!
The cold water ensuite was (also) a good size.
The US$2 Breakfast was simple but sufficient. It was scrambled eggs with tomato and onion, toast or banana fritas, and a cup of coffee.
And, the restaurant over-looked the beach … so, there was somewhere to hang my hammock.
The beach-side location was exactly what I wanted.
However, the restaurant at the front didn't put their tables out until 8am and locked them away at about 6pm. Outside of those hours, there was nowhere to sit!
Breakfast was also slow. They say that they start to serve at 8am ... but, on many occasions, we didn't manage to get served until close to 10am.

An average hostel ... but it's on the beachfront!

The hostel Dumbira is on the beach so the location is pretty good but if you're looking for calm it's not top at all, there's no reception open all the time so it's not convenient if you need anything. The man who runs the hostel is not nice at all. We had a room with no air conditioning at $15 a night, there was still the possibility of turning it on but you had to pay double $28 a night. We chose to take it because the temperatures are very high, he turned it on but it's not adjustable so we have to get up at night to disconnect because it's cold after a while and it's very hot so we feel a little like pigeons. We wanted a gentleman to negotiate and he sent us a little bit of a price, so he turned it on because the temperature is very high, so the hostel is a very nice place to go, and he promised to keep the box.

Even if Hotel Vieillot (with sometimes hard to open and squeaky room doors and some rooms smelling like egots) we spent a very nice stay (one week) there, especially thanks to La responsable tres amicable and helpful, who speaks Spanish, French and English. She solved the problems related to the old age of the establishment. Hotel on the beach and price is very good depending. Common terraces. And the view from the second floor is great for sunset. But needs more comfortable seats. And on the weekends there is the music from the club next door.
