Kayros' staff made us feel at home. They were accommodating beyond our expectations and made our trip to Santa Marta and Tayrona a memorable one. Thanks so much for your exceptional service and warm hospitality.

We got here late at night as we were expecting to come in late from the long trip from San Gil. We were called to confirm our arrival time. I really appreciate the courtesy call. 
Upon arriving our cab was paid for.
We actually stayed in the Kayors vivienda turistica, and the room we had was rather spacious and very nice. We got one of the private rooms. There was a nice kitchen to do our cooking, a bar in the back area and we did our laundry.
Mara, i think is the person who runs the place, with her two sons, was extremely helpful. There was just a small communication issue with the dialect of my Spanish vs her Dialect.
Towels were constantly provided to us as well as new sheets everyday. For being a hostel the service was amazing. 
There was free internet as well as free WiFi. A lot of people came in out of the place, allowing us to meet a lot of people.
It is quiet thanks to not being near the nightlife, yet walking distance to the beach and really close to the commercial area.
Probably one of the two best places I stayed in on my trip through Colombia.

Kayros offers almost everything you want in a hostel: clean beds, space to socialize, guest kitchen, friendly staff, a book exchange. Because Santa Marta is so hot night and day, the A/C in the dorms is a godsend. The only thing missing, which many hostels lack, is lockers for your pack. They do have little wooden boxes to lock your valuables in, but you need your own lock. There´s a bar out back whose radio goes on early and stays on late, and a TV in the main room, but with the A/C running you hardly hear them. Nice chill-out area in the back, with hammocks and tables. A bit far from the beach, maybe 10-15 minutes walking, but that means you´re out of the noisy center. COP$20,000/night.

Far away from the clutter, yet no too far away.

Wonderful, warm service

This place is aesetically alright. The kitchen definitely needs a fine tune but it´s not too bad. The rooms are clean and well lit. The A/C in our first room (we had to change part way through the booking) didn´t fully work...it never got cold which made or unomfortable sleeping. The pillows are rubbish though, lumpy and a hard but then everyone has a different take on mattresses and these types of things! The showers are cold (not a problem with the heat here, in fact it´s a must) but the water pressure is severely lacking...couldn´t get the sand off my legs to easily!

The location is okay too, not in the centre of Santa Marta, but it´s not  a big place so there´s no problem and it seemed a perfectly safe and friendly area.

The major problem here is the staff. They were unfriendly, seemed bored and acted as though they were taxed to do the smallest thing or answer a query. I left my hoody in a room and it disappeared, they were not plussed and dismissive. It´s not the kind of attitude to have if you´re working in the ervice industry. Is it really so hard to smile or be friendly. 

If you´ve nowhere else to stay then I guess this place will do, but "just do" is not really what you want at the end of a long hot day!

Could have been a lot better

We came here late at night and we realy needed a good sleep. The girls that let us in was friendly and immidiatly showed our room. The room was not clean and the matresses where realy terrible. It was old, dirty and very foggy.
