Zsmart Zhishang Hotel (Hangzhou Wulin Square)

The Milan Fashion Hotel in HangZhou is a nicely decorated (if a little kitsch) and comfortable place. The room I had (Deluxe Single Room) was compact, yet well featured. I got a discount rate of 368rmb/night (about US$50-55) including 2 breakfasts. The ground floor restaurant/bar, off the lobby, has a good dinner menu and drinks selection. However, at least one item on the menu was not available at the time I had dinner. The location is very near a nice stretch of the Grand Canal and the soon to be opened, at time of writing (October 2008), Culture Square. It's also only about 15 minutes walk north of city shopping hub WuLin Square, which includes the HangZhou Grand Theatre. Walk along the Grand Canal and over the bridge and you're there. It's a 5-10 minute taxi ride (11-14 rmb US$1.50-2) to the N-E corner of West Lake (HuBin Road and Number 6 Park - LiuGongYuan). About 15-20 minutes taxi ride (15-22 rmb) to the Main HZ train station. And, about 45 minutes (100rmb US$15) to the airport, or catch a shuttle bus (US$3) from the MinHang Hotel near WuLin Square. I speak Chinese so language was not a problem, but for non-Chinese speakers it may slow a few things down. They did seem to have some English speaking staff. LFA
