I was satisfied with this hotel and would be happy to stay again. Being low season, I got a good discount, less than half the hotel rack rate and the hotel was almost empty. The room was very nice and new. There are good public areas - outdoor tables and chairs and it is a beautiful wooden building. A nice free breakfast is provided and dinner can be purchased. Some cons: staff spoke no english at all, so we had to get by with smart phone translators and my limited Chinese. Staff had a nice and helpful manner, despite our communication troubles. They helped me to book my ongoing travel (taxi and bus), provided a map and explained to me about the national park. No heating in public areas, and the shower hot water took a long time to get hot and wasn't very hot in the end. Though, I found this was the norm in rural Hunan province. Staff seemed to take a long time to process my check-in. Because of communication problems, I'm not exactly sure why. Maybe because the hotel voucher was in english, or they're not used to processing agoda reservations.
