9 reviewsLet me first say, if you are a tourist, you should look at staying in one of the hotel IN the ancient city. I wish we had. But, I was not aware of the hotels and what the ancient city was. With that said, this is a good option outside of the ancient city area. It is only a few blocks from most of the tourist sites. It is in a good location. There is a market and restaurant across the street for easy convenience. The best thing about this hotel was the staff. Although there was severe problems with language differences and translations, they did everything they could to make our stay very comfortable. If anything happened, they worked for a solution. I wish they had internet in the rooms. Wi-Fi would be even better. They do have internet, but one of the staff had to come to my room and set up a network connection for my computer. I have never had this happen in any other hotels in China. I am not sure what was going on there. At least they have good Wi-Fi in the lobby. The rooms are typically worn and need renovations. The carpet in most of these hotels are always dirty and need replacing. I am not sure they own a carpet cleaning machine at the hotel. Tiles in the bathroom were broken. And, the wallpaper is in need of repair. But, the beds were clean and comfortable (for China's standards). We found an English movie channel on TV to keep us entertained. The breakfast buffet they offered was very good. Much of the standard breakfast fare you expect. But, it was tasteful and filling. I recommend asking for a room facing the street, versus a room on the back side of the building. The back has a bad echo and you can hear people throughout the night shouting and making all kinds of noise. And, ask for a room on the far end of the hall....away from the KTV on the second floor. No sound-proofing and the horrible singers in the KTV echo down the halls on the third and fourth floor. Thankfully, our room was at the opposite end of the building. People who can not sing, should not sing!!!!!. Our room on a week day in spring (just before May Day) was 188 per night. A little more in price than I would pay at a similar type of hotel. But, it was not bad.
