Genting Star Suzhou

We booked Genting Star last minute during our travels, which ended up being the last weekend of the October holiday break. It was one of the only places with availability, so we booked. However, we were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. It is in the 'industrial' area and a bit outside of the tourist zone, but it is right by the Nanshi Jie metro station, making it easy to find and access the city. The room was clean and tidy. It is basic, but for 99Y, you can't expect luxury. It is a great deal for the price, especially considering we were looking at hostels charging 160Y. The staff spoke very little English, but it was no issue as we just showed our IDs and booking info. There is a small shop in the lobby with everything from instant noodles to wine to ice cream, so you can self cater if needed. There isn't much developed yet in the area, but I'm sure that is soon to come. The only down side was that the wifi did not work with our android tablets. They indicated our version was not compatible with their server. We accessed wifi in a cafe at another area.
