Days of Brilliance Hotel - Shanghai

Needing to change from a more expensive hotel for one night in Pudong, the name of this hotel - its English translation - was an eyebrow-raising attraction. Having initially been directed through a back entrance, I was worried what to expect, but when redirected by helpful security, the foyer was smart and light, the staff were courteous and efficient, and the room: large and comfortable, and very cheap at around £18 per night. I hadn't known of its existence, but it proved just the ticket and was close enough to all the attractions of Pudong without the excessive prices of most hotels near Dongfang Road.
