Jinjiang Inn Qingdao Henan Road Railway Station

Upon arrival from Busan at the Qingdao airport, we hopped onto a metered taxi that took us to this hotel some 35 mins later, Rmb $96. But there was a taxi strike a few days later so we took the Airport bus 702 from the base of the Catholic Church (5 mins walk from Hotel) when we depart (buy $20 bus tickets from a Hostel some 10 steps away from the Airport bus stop). Buses depart twice each hour, at .10 and .40 respectively. About 1-1.5 hour's journey. For the price we had paid, we could not ask for more - rather new spacious Twin A (upgraded from Twin B upon arrival) with a Queen and a Single bed, comfy beds not hard at all, string aircon, safe, kettle with coffee & tea but no minibar. There were also lots of storage spaces with some clever planning needed. Sound proofing was good, too, so we had no problem sleeping even though our room faces onto the road. Ask for hind rooms if you desire a totally quiet room. Good wifi in room. Breakfasts was subsidized at Rmb$20 each pax each day but avoid foods like cut fruits, steam sweet corn & sweet potatoes and hard boiled eggs. And you will be fine. Staff are all friendly and helpful but they would ask for a $200 deposit upon check in. Room cards also needed to be scanned in the lifts when ascending - great security! The attached tour agency was good with tours to whole day Laoshan tours at Rmb$180 each but its very tiring climbing up the mountain after a cable car ride. Go on a cooler day, bring water and wear comfy shoes. With expensive optional tours, cable car rides and lunch all thrown in, this tour is quite costly, about Rmb$500 each person - quite expensive for China!!! All in all, we have had a great 5 nights stay here. Would try to stay with this Jinjiang chain whenever we visit China in the future.
