This hotel offered me the best service I'd ever encountered, better than the Four Seasons, Inter-con, Banyantree, Ruffles..put together. Ambience, decor, room are just typical of a good Chinese run hotel. Except for breakfast, food was very very good.
Oh, free in room internet access and free shuttle ride to and from the airport and the ocean is just across the raod..

As with the other reviews of this place, the rooms and lobby are very nice. Spotlessly clean and quickly made up in the morning. Very attractive. Most of the staff are young and do not speak English at all, breakfast is Chinese (as you may expect) with little to no western options (this is not necessarily a criticism, just an observation), the AC does not work at all - whenever I turned mine on the room got hotter, not colder. Turned it off and opened the window instead. I stayed at the VIP House although there are others on site too. Don't know how good they are.

Nice but has a few faults

Wonderful service

The Qingdao Graden Hotel is a nice hotel property, with a lot of potential, but it doesn't live up to its potential.  It could be a 4 star property, but it has no amineties.  The AC never worked the entire time we were there.  Other guests complained that theirs didn't work either.  It has no gift shop, no bar or lounge, the staff are all VERY young, and are not good at providing good customer service.  It has a swimming pool, but it was never open the entire time we were there.  This is a government owned and operated hotel, but it is not operated very well.  The lobby and rooms are beautiful, but that is where it stops.  Nice try, but no cigar....

It has potential, but doesn't make it...

On a business trip in September 2016 my colleagues and I were booked into the VIP section of this hotel. It was far from a VIP experience. Like many Chinese hotel rooms the room was spacious, but the VIP experience stopped there. Also in common with many Chinese hotels, the fumes of old cigarette smoke seem to linger everywhere, including in the room. On the warm fall evening we were there the air conditioning was ineffectual. The hot water was limited due to plumbing maintenance; this turned out to be acceptable because in the hot room I needed a cool shower, anyway. The wifi connection was non-existent. When a few of us retired to the hotel bar for a cold drink we were able to share a couple of beers and a glass of wine, but the spirits we could point to behind the bar were not for sale. After an hour the lights were dimmed and we were asked to leave at about 10 pm. I have stayed in some very nice hotels in Qingdao; this is not one of them.
