It's a tastefully decorated boutique style guest house. Very clean, good location for dining and strolling at night. We had a nice balcony with only very tiny child size chairs...? Staff was pleasant.

Comfortable and tasteful

Firstly, we had an airport pickup arranged that never arrived. We then had to call the hotel (they didn't speak English) and put them on to someone from the airport who spoke both languages to arrange another pickup. At the Hotel we were given a twin instead of a double room. They gladly changed it for us so we had a new room on the top floor. The views were stunning from the room, the terrace was nice, the room was adequately clean (although there was lots of dust and ants). Only thing wrong with the main room was that the air conditioner didn't work. 

The only bad thing about the hotel was the bathroom. It produced such a putrid odor that we had to shut the door and turn on the exhaust fan just to sleep. Even then, some of the smell escaped under the door. We threw romance out the window. Either there are people peeing down the drain and imbuing the pipes with the smell, or there is festering mold in the pipes. Either way, a good round of chemical cleaners would do the trick and is something that any responsible hotel owner would do upon checking the rooms. 

Another thing was the water heater for the shower. You actually have to turn it on yourself. Then you need to decipher the Chinese hieroglyphics to put the heat on and set it to the temperature you like. Even then, the machine resets to low temperature every 30 seconds so you had to keep pressing buttons whilst lathering up. It was annoying to say the least. Couple this with terrible water pressure and an unbearable smell (oh and the shower is one of the typical showers that doesn't have a curtain or cubicle) and we were in for some pretty poor showers. 

It was a very enjoyable stay apart from this and I would stay again (not bad prices) if I had a room with a nice bathroom. 

A girl who works there does actually speak a bit of English. But as with all the locals, be very clear and concise with what you say or you will get an answer that was given for the sake of being an answer and may or may not be right.

Good location but keep expectations low

Stayed in Jan for 3 days. They seem to not care if guests stay or go as we had booked for 3 days but when checking in they said we can pay for one night and then decide which I thought a bit strange. Then they recommended another b&B (hotel) based in the same building on the 16 and 17 floors. We moved to this hotel and were much happier and paid less per night. The room in Elephant was OK but bathroom not clean and water heater for shower was faulty.

Not worth the price

Elephant Home are a series of rooms in a slightly tattered apartment complex; it is by no means a hotel. There is a fellow who sits in a reception room two floors down but otherwise you are on your own. First the good things: the views from the 18th floor are lovely, the rooms are fine size-wise and the location isn't bad. Otherwise, the place has little to recommend it. Rooms are a bit shabby, shower water pressure is a trickle and if you come during Lunar New Year, you will pay more than 600 RMB, which is criminal. (Normal rates are around 120 RMB).

This is not a proper hotel

The Hotel is alright for one Night. But we got the impression that some of the good references here are writen by the own management. Dont ask for clean rooms or english speaking "service" it seems to be a rented floor in this 20 story building where they are trying to run a Hotel in the normal appartments. Our room had mold / fungus all over the place, view was fantastic though. Good for one night to try to find a decent place.
