Jilin and Beijing Road Super 8 Hotel

I had to stay in Jilin for a night in winter as I wanted to see rime which can only be viewed in the early hours of the morning. The choice was between this hotel which cost about USD 30 or the better hotels in Jilin which cost about USD 80. Budget was not an issue but I read on other reviews that the better hotels had problems with peeling paint, hot water supply, cleanliness and most importantly, heating issues. The hotel's location is good as there are a few eateries and restaurants a stone throw's away and the nearby Song Hua Jiang river is lovely for a night's stroll as all the buildings along the river were colorfully lit up at night. So I gave this hotel a try. It is part of the Super 8 chain of hotels. I must say that I was satisfied with the service at the reception and the room was reasonably comfortable. There was hot water although the water pressure was rather low. Towels were provided and the air-conditioner in the room allowed me to adjust the temperature to my preference. There was a clean kettle and mineral water was supplied at a cost - only RMB 2 per bottle. The room and bedlinen were very clean, everything was in working order. Bearing in mind the inexpensive price, one really cannot ask for more. There was a selection of condoms at the bedside so this hotel is probably not for children but otherwise makes a good stopover night's stay.
