Those reviews pointing out that it's an old place, possibly in need of a refresh, are completely right. But so are the great pyramids. The place reverberates history, there are pictures of statesman who habituated the hotel, displayed throughout the hallowed halls, you may find yourself walking past heavily decorated PLA officers. The cuisine here is outstanding, I've feasted twice on the freshest vegetables, a medley of beans which tasted as if they'd just been plucked, a sublime soup of Nanjing's indigenous ju-hua-lao, a steam of Yangtze River's most extravagant delicacy, an abstruse prehistoric fish which shall go unnamed.
